Does "not a crappy monitor" mean "not too expensive"?

cfperez97I meant for "not a crappy monitor" to mean "not a TN panel". Originally I only had Acer XB270HU (IPS) and the Eizo FG2421 (VA) in the vote, and didn't realize anyone could add more choices. And now we have the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q, a TN panel, in the lead?! I'm going to add the ASUS MG279Q and I hope people come to their senses and at least vote for that rather than a TN panel.
But then, why would anyone not vote for the Acer XB270HU (IPS)? That monitor has everything. Resolution. Refresh. Nearly artifact free overdrive. G-Sync. Color. Read the review at TFTCentral.
Most TN panels are only 6-bit per RGB and can display only 262,144 colors instead of the 16,777,216 colors that VA and IPS panels can. TN panels use dithering to simulate more colors. Most VA panels are 8-bit, as are most IPS. TN panels have poor contrast and severe color shift when off-axis. VA panels have some color shift and excellent contrast. IPS panels have minimal color shift and ok constrast. For much more detail on panel types, check this out:

natefariousThanks for the reply. I'll look into the options available. But still what would be your budget?
Edit: Ok, so the Asus XB270HU looks like the only option for an IPS G-Sync monitor (unless your willing to spend about $1k on the new Asus ROG Swift PG27AQ). The Ezio FG2421 and Asus MG279Q both look like great VA and IPS options, respectively, but neither come with G-Sync (might be a deal breaker for you). But I still think what it comes down to is how much the cost and how much you are willing to spend.

natefariousJust an FYI, the ROG Swift uses an 8-bit TN panel and is considered one of the best TN panels available. I'd still take the Acer over it, but it's not by any means a "crappy" monitor.

natefariousI understand why you don´t like tn panels. I own an Ips myself but the Asus Rog is freakin awesome. I would by this monitor only for G-sync and the resolution. But it is an 144hz monitor as well. For gaming it is simply one of the best monitors. An better altenative would be the Acer Predator XB270HU same resolution same refresh rate but this monitor has an ips panel.
