I'm shocked that more people aren't interested in the ZPacks Duplex. I've owned dozens of tents and I've lived in a roadless valley in the rainforest for years. The duplex is, by far, the lightest and roomiest option with a very strong livability rating. A lot of the other tents appear to be lighter than they are because the floors aren't waterproof, and they don't include stakes and guylines in the weight specs. Tarptent does include everything in their specs, and they're a great company. However, the duplex appears to be a significantly better choice than the mirage for me. I wish the voting wasn't closed on this- I would love to see a duplex on massdrop.
Just used the Big Agnes Scout Plus UL2 on a 3 day backpacking trip in the alpine lakes wilderness, super easy and fast set up and obviously light weight. I would definitely recommend it. The Seedhouse SL2 looks like the pole-less equivalent I want to try out.
Mirage 2P for me, too. I think you have a better chance at a bigger discount with Big Sky International because they have already shown that they are willing to sell a $325 tent (with the extras and shipping) for $199 on here. I don't use trekking poles, either.
I don't know about tarp-tent, but some companies don't offer big discounts on here so I think it is best to support the ones who do. I just bought the soul x2, but I would probably put it on eBay or a forum if I could get the same price on this. 2 doors would be nice.

That's an incredible price for the Soul. I hope we can get a similar discount for the Mirage if it goes ahead.
The days of compromise are behind us. Forget about MSR, Big Agnes or REI. These days the cottage guys are making the best gear and so we have multiple sub-3lb, 2-door/2-vestibule, 2-person shelters that are roomy, storm-worthy and durable. These tents will take you anywhere you need to go that doesn't require snow-shoes or skis, and weigh a good pound less than what you find in stores. My pick is the Mirage 2P from Big Sky International, but see for yourself and make you own choice.

True, but that's not much use for those who don't use poles.

Tarptent sells ultralight poles that work great.
