There are so many votes for the 598s on so many different poles can we get a drop already ?
I've seen HD598s go for as low as $150. If Massdrop can do that I might bite. Or I can just wait for Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday.
Don't vote for the ATH M50X guys, there is already a drop for them as I type this. The Sennheiser HD 598 have not had a drop yet.
lel Still no drop for HD 598?
The HD 598s are to headphones what noctua is to fans. Great headphones but God do they look awful...

I love the colour scheme (and I have noctua fans lol) so the look is subjective, thus it probably isn't for you.
next time the hd598 drops to $99 im on it like bug on stank
The HD 598 frequently drop to the $150 or less in Canada at a number of retailers including Amazon.ca. I can't see this being a very successful drop if the HD 598 are the headphones selected. I bought my set for $100CAD during the holidays on Amazon.ca.

... Your point is well made ! Votes for the HD 598 and the Audio - Technica ATH -M 50X s are wasted votes, as , there are all too common place here ! That's why I suggested, the V-Moda M-100s . They sound very good. They're easy to drive well, even directly from a Phone . They are well constructed . And They Travel ,very well to boot ! ( My 2nd Choice was the Philips X2 - 3rd the Philips X1 - both Semi - Open Ear) .... the AKG 712 can be Better Choice , BUT Only if It can be purchased Closer to the $200 price point.
I concur, the HD598 are solid built, ultra-wide soundstage and sound just majestic.
The HD598s have dropped in price on Amazon. Like down to around $147. I'm hoping this drop pushes it further down.
There is already a drop with about 1600 votes with the hd 598 in the lead, wouldn't it be smarter to vote over there if you want an hd 598?

Why would you go for the M50s or 518s over the K712?
I'm curious if we could get a drop on both the M50s and the 598s given the popularity of the poll and Massdrop's already established relationship with Audio-Technica on previous headphone drops.

Agreed. There's no doubt that they will reach the lowest price on either. High demand for both.
I added the PSB's which were the top pick (again) from The Wirecutter. The write up is here: http://mgb.nyc/1Ilrjdg. I'm familiar with why every goes bananas over the M50Xs. What is so great about the Sennheisers in the #1 spot right now?

I've listened to both. The Sennheiser HD 598 has a more balanced and refined sound, not to mention a larger sound stage, than the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x (I generally agree with the opinions in http://www.head-fi.org/t/745528/sennheiser-hd-598-or-ath-m50x). The Sennheiser is also quite a bit more comfortable and arguably more solidly built.
Don't get me wrong—the M50x is a still a great buy for what it is (and it's somewhat an apples-to-oranges comparison because the HD 598 is open whereas the M50x is closed), but if your priority is accurate/balanced sound reproduction above all else, then you'll probably get more bang for your buck out of the Sennheiser.

I have the 595s and my friend just got the m50x. I agree with learningsquare, but I want to add that m50x has an advantage over the 598 on portabilty. The m50x folds up, comes with 3 different interchangeable wires, and even baggy to carry it all. When I take my 595s out on the road, I have to baby them like crazy. I'm not sure if they've upgraded this on the 598 but they feel like they can break easily if not properly cared for. The m50x feel a little more rugged , and although they don't sound as crisp as the 598, I would give that up for being able to carry them out with less worry.
