Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Now for the actual content. Does anyone have both DT-880 premiums or pros and the K7XX? Aside from the Tesla T1, the DT-880 is the only pair of headphones I've been considering/wanting that I don't already own or have owned previously. However, the Tesla T1's are really expensive. I'm curious as to how the 880 compares to the K7XX sonically from others' opinions.
My DT-770 Pros have always been comfortable as have my DT-990 Premiums. They fit my head great and cause no discomfort. I already have a pair of HD600's which I have read are very similar to the 880's and that's why I didn't buy them before. The key differences being the neutrality of the HD600 vs. naturally sounding DT-880 if what I read is to be trusted.
I enjoy my K7XX thoroughly when they're on correctly, but getting them to fit properly is still a small battle, albeit a minor inconvenience at best. When I look at the long-term usage for the K7XX, how much time and effort am I really willing to spend putting them on and taking them off to get them just right?
I have a pile of old gear that I still need to sell or trade at this point. It may appear that I'm spoiled. I can see that argument. I feel lucky and from years of buying/selling gear I've gradually paid for more/new gear. I don't spend my money on much other than hardware and games. I'll list em below to help get some better advice as to whether or not the 880 would be a worthwhile addition.
