Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Am a little bit disappointed that I received white, as I emailed staff and requested black, should any additional stock become available. The secondary drop suggested that more stock did open up.
Now to the good stuff.
I've always loved AKG and have been using the K550, which is the best closed back I have ever heard at a reasonable price. Nonetheless, the sound stage on the Q701 is brilliant. These give huge bang for your buck. Like anything hifi, the law of diminishing returns applies here. Have tested far more expensive Sennheisers (HD700 and HD800) and they don't sort out messy recordings like AKGs do.
Love the detailed and balanced sound signature. They're far from warm, but its the detail and the shining mids of the piano that I'm after. Not going to undertake the port mod, as the bass levels are spot on for me (although strangely not as tight as the K550), but this is just a personal preference.
Currently listening to Jamie Cullum's 'Momentum', Three Cane Whale's 'Holts and Hovers' and The Wallflowers' 'Red Letter Days'.
I think some of the differing feedback with people will come down to personal preference (not everyone loves the AKG sound signature as much as I do!), while others may come down to choice of amp or if they are using an amp at all.
These aren't bass heavy, but the bass is extremely well controlled. Without an amp, they might sound a bit thin on bass, though.
