Anyone know how warm this is? And how it deals with wind and water?

HualicopterIf this is anything close to the authentic military N-3B, it should be incredibly warm. I have a military one, and it is more than enough in -0F temps, this is my go to when there is a winter storm out.

HualicopterIt deals amazingly with wind, you can zip the hood down to a small circle if you have to and it looks like one of those diving bells, and you get basically no wind. The body is fine for wind too. It's not super great with water though, it's more of a jacket for cold and snow, it doesn't take rain very well. It's ridiculously warm, I usually don't wear mine until it's below freezing outside. Source: I own a military N3B parka, and a friend of mine has an Alpha industries one and it's effectively the same. Also, this design is the original parka, designed by the military based off of inuit winter garments.

HualicopterAlpha Industries classifies it as heavy-weight and it is substantial for sub-freezing temperatures.

HualicopterI've had one of these since 2011 and they're very warm. Definitely the warmest coat I've ever worn. It deals with wind and water fine.
One thing about it that you can't really count as a minus is that if you have the hood drawn up and tight over your face while it's really cold out, your breath will condense on the fur and freeze, which can be cold on your face.
Anyways, I paid $139.99 for this, with free S&H, from UO way back when, so this Massdrop isn't a spectacular deal or anything like that, but these coats are hard to find outside of Alpha Industries's website, so I recommend it.

TueraiI've worn mine in the rain and it's held up fine, although if it's warm enough to rain (32+F), then it's probably too warm for this coat.

velocirabbitI was concerned about the waterproof qualities of the Nylon outer shell, but this is a great point. Thanks for this.

TueraiThanks.
I'll probably end up joining the drop.
The water is more if the jacket gets covered in snow and it melts.

velocirabbitYou know, that's intentional! Better than condensing on your face and freezing, which is the alternative!
