That Veritech Fighter colorway, tho... As for folks complaining about the layout - this is decidedly a hyper-niche product, even within the niche of expensive mechanical keyboards. It's an Angry Miao product - this is literally what they do. There are more layout choices available now than ever before - this is just one of them.

mouse_mdIf you really want to know, ask AM - they're the ones that have been doing it for a living. You could also ask any number of manufacturers that produce for keyboard designers, like Mastars in China. They make everything from budget boards to high-end customs and artisans. Oh dear... are you chest-puffing about WPM? In this discussion? I guess I'll spell it out for you: I thought your gate-keeping behavior was funny and that's why I commented in the first place. Let's just assume you're the fastest, most accurate typist who ever typed. Let's also acknowledge that AM alienates most potential buyers with their prices alone, never mind their niche designs. I still think the gatekeeping is laughable. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Instead, you made a comment about me, but not to me, like you're afraid I would say something back. And it's not gatekeeping. Anybody can learn how to type. Most simply refuse to apply themselves. To you, I'm puffing up my chest. To me, I'm just always this muscular. It's simply what happens when you apply yourself. So how's that GWAM coming? Do you still need more time?

I didn't @ you originally for two reasons. 1.) it wasn't just about you, hence "folks" 2.) it wasn't for you, but for other readers who might be newer to the "hobby" than either of us. I did say AM's products are niche - which is a fact - and it's also why I thought your whinging about "the direction the hobby is going" humorous. Their products are about as poor a gauge for that as you could find. I did feel it relevant to point out the absurdity and humor in that, but not necessarily start an argument over it - but here we are. I don't believe anyone here made any attempt to speak for AM, but you most definitely made an attempt to speak for "typists" which I find absurd. That you seem to think how well you type adds any credibility to this is even more absurd. I can promise you that you're going to live your entire life without anyone but job recruiters caring about your GWAM, and without anyone across all of space-time being intimidated by it. LOL, indeed. I can also promise you that you're going to live your entire life without experiencing someone being afraid of what you may or may not say on the internet - it just isn't a thing, anywhere... much less on a Drop.com sales page comments section. Were you disagreeing with the guy who was disagreeing with me? "my comment wasn't for you! it was for any other people who happen to see it! Perhaps you think money should decide this instead? Like I said before, just a small community of confused, old, or lonely people could fund entire batches of keyboards with awful layouts, thereby making those layouts the new standard. Well that's simply not true. You'll find colleges and universities care as well. Mine certainly did. mouse_mdYou misunderstood my central points, and added quite a few nonexistent ones of your own that I won't be addressing. My actual central point: regardless of your chops as an individual typist, you are the only typist you can speak for. That being my philosophy and the nature of my criticism towards your position, I'm not inclined to "paraphrase". I gently pointed out the absurdity of complaining about a niche product as if its dictating the direction of a hobby that's bigger and more diverse than its ever been, and the subsequent incredulity of speaking for others. I happily stand by that, and find the position undaunted by aforementioned strawman arguments and adjacent speculative assertions. It's okay if you disagree, but taking it as a personal attack is toxic - for you, for the forum, for the hobby. I figured you'd see a discussion thread you're subscribed to by default, btw - I just had no inclination to make the comment about you over the absurd points made and figured you'd either provide some substance to say otherwise or move on. The other thing you missed is that while I was criticizing the core of your assertion, I wasn't criticizing you - until your challenge about GWAM. That's pretty goofy on its face - and I happily stand by that assertion, too. Be proud of your GWAM and all that, by the way - it sounds like it's something you worked for, it's a valid skill, and you deserve to feel good about it - I even believe you that you're super good at typing. Just coming back around to that original core point: don't think it's going to lend credibility to statements made on behalf of anyone not living in your meat with you.
