You can do a test yourself if you have a multimeter and measure the voltage your mic input gives. Though to be clear it's not everything: My own Xonar does under 3V and still sounds pretty good.
Anyway, we DO recommend a USB sound card IF you can not afford a better solution. Audio is something you can pour a lot of money into, so it is up to the end user.
EDIT: Just watched that video (I love podcastage) - So apparently you may want to avoid the Sabrent USB? Rough.
