Having a hard time deciding on the mic type. I use a mechanical keyboard at work and home, but also a soft speaker so people mention they can't hear me over conference calls or video conferencing. My office is typically pretty quiet so the background noise isn't much of an issue.

rfreibergerI'm assuming your talking about Uni or Omni mic, generally you want Uni unless you know you specifically want Omni

rfreibergerIf you plan on typing with having an open mic with a mechanical KB I would advise a Uni. If you plan on push to talk while not typing the Omni would be the best option for your case.

rfreibergerI am using a Modmic 2.3 myself which is omnidirectional and I use a Keyboard with Cherry-MX Brown Keys. I'd say it depends on your setup, but you will likely be happier with the Uni directional mic, as most mechanical keyboards will be quite loud after all and if you are such a soft speaker it's probably gonna be better for yout to setup the mic without worrying about your KB getting in the way too much.
