They're mostly useless, "16 - 600 ohms". Though its Balanced output above 64Ω is still pretty impressive. 1,500 mW + 1,500 mW (16 ohms load) 1,200 mW + 1,200 mW (32 ohms load) 800 mW + 800 mW (64 ohms load) 120 mW + 120 mW (600 ohms load)

Hello all. Just curious should I go for this amp or DROP + THX AAA™ 789. I will be using 3 types of headphones: HD 660s, 177x go and hopefully HD 8xx Does it come with EU or UK plug?

Since you are asking for an opinion, what DAC are you planning to use? I'd say that you are considering apples and oysters. The pure integrated linear circuit and way cheaper THX-789 amp against a more (!) costly hybrid amp. The headphones you list are not particularly hard to drive, most any amp will do. Maybe consider a nice DAC like a Chord Mojo along with the THX 789 or other similar THX amps like a S.M.S.L. together for less than the cost of this amp alone? Although this amp intrigues me, at $1,000 I'm wanting to hear more about it before dropping that kind of cash. Remember, Half the fun is looking. :-) Good luck and enjoy!

FrostyBudThank you so much for your response. I actually got an smsl SU 9 dac with the THX 789. That being said I like you would like to get a tubed amp and am waiting for more reviews. Good luck as well and happy holidays.

Will there be more specifications released? I am wondering if this will work well with my planars, but output impedance is nowhere to be found.

It's going to depend very much on the planars. If the one's you're talking about are high sensitivity planars such as the Oppo PM-3s (102Db @ 26Ohms) or perhaps the HE400S (98Db @ 22Ohms), then you'll certainly be fine. But if the specs listed by Jeremiah_R are accurate then it probably isn't a good match more current thirsty planars such as the HE560 (90Db @ 45Ohms) or LCD3.

Indeed 120-240V power adapter with removable cable: no problem for EU-users.
