I've been wanting something like this for ages. I've even considered attempting to figure out how to make this happen myself (despite my lack of experience designing electronics). I will unfortunately not be buying this for two reasons.

I would want hotswap sockets so I can use the same switches that are on my keyboard.
Secondary to that, I would also prefer a design that had less personality. Not that the design of this is at all bad. It's quite charming, actually. I would just want something that blended in with my desktop.

I don't say these things as a criticism of this product. I'm sure it's great, or at least fine. I'm just putting this out there because I assume that the people and companies that design these things read the comments on Drop and will possibly consider making one that has the qualities I've mentioned above.

myownbiggestfanExactly this! I've also wanted to try to make it myself because I've wanted one. But I do agree. I wish that there would be hot-swappable sockets, and a design that was more subtle so that any keycaps I put on it could shine.
