I just got these in the mail yesterday and spent a whole evening gaming and listening to music. I usually am a Sennheiser guy, but I was always curious how the 990’s sound. No stores in my area have them to listen to. I was very weary of the so-called piercing highs and was intrigued by extended low end. After about a solid 6 hours of listening to these, I can say that I love them for what they are. Clamp is loose, super soft material, and build quality I think is perfect for the price. Didn’t get irritated or uncomfortable wearing these at all. So what did I think of the sound? I immediately noticed the extended treble, and I did not think it was harsh or fatiguing in any way. Definitely higher than what I’m used to with Sennheiser’s, but actually still quite pleasant. Mids are slightly recessed, but not to a point where everything sounds tinny or hollow. They‘re still there. Bass is superb on these cans. Very clean and precise, as well as huge presence (especially for open back cans). Soundstage wasn’t spectacular but still very good. These will definitely be my main driver for awhile as they still need to break in a bit more. Final note: I love the all black design.
250 or 600 ohms? If you use them at home only and on a good amp I hope you went with the 600s
