HellreaverOf course we can google, but Massdrop should include that in the specs without customers having to do their own research. They include country of origin for other knives. So you can stop with your smartass comments buddy.
HellreaverAbout almost every drop...someone just have to know where it is made...If it is not listed, it is not made in USA...it would be written in giant letters 'made in USA' if it was made in USA.
I can not understand why is country of origin is so important to some people either...and if it is so important, why couldn't they just go search it themselves...
However, I do agree massdrop should have put all the info in here just to shut those people up...
Every time when you want to know some useful info about the drop in the discussion, then you just see some people asking' where is it made? I know it is good, but where is it made? I know it is a good deal, but where is it made? where is it made? where is it made?" ON EARTH, it is made ON EARTH. happy?
so annoying!
dkjnvldjrvnldrgzAnd Boker magnum oo...Boker Germany would be 4-5 more time expensive with similar quality....
Even Boker Tree brand knives are not all made in Germany...
CheapDealsI believe the Boker Plus line is Taiwanese, which is traditionally known for being slightly better fit and finish than mainland China. These days that is all changing though. The Chinese stigma isn't really what it once was.
A lot of American brands have been made in China for so long, with a massive mark up slapped on for the name brand. So some Chinese companies have really stepped it up in recent years.
Edit. I should also say I own the full size Urban Trapper with cocobolo scales and love it.
namhodFrom my experience of Taiwan knife Spyderco...the fit and finish is better than made in USA...if you ever hold a Slysz bowie...Just compare to a US made pm2 you will understand... I love my pm2...but the fit and finish is no where near as good. I also got a sage5 from Taiwan...same story. Benchmade is all made in USA...I love my 940 and Griptaillion...however, I had to stay in my local knife store for 3 hours just to find one that is centered...
Anyway..I had to say that US made knives typically have better hardware for sure...My boker plus exskelibur 1 CF is one of my most loved folder...but the hardware on it is really shitty...striped out the clip screws totally just by change it once...
Ruike knife is also made in the boker factory in China...which somehow has better fit and finish than some of the Boker china....
I think all the shitty Made in China knives are meanly come from USA brand...All the Chinese brands are better, like WE, Kizer, Steel will ect...
Shitty one are most likely be Gerber made in china, CRKT made in China, or some Byrd line from spyderco...
I think it is not hard to understand...
A Chinese company that try to make their own name will actually care about what they put out there.
However, when they just make things for a brand in an other country...they don't give a fuck, and why would they...
RebuswindWHO is it made by is a much more important question. There are some companies like Boker that make knives in different countries, so in that case, WHERE becomes important. I agree with the content of your post. It's always refreshing to see appropriate posts.
Description states steel manufactured in Japan, but what about the knife?
I think all of Boker Plus is chinese.
