As someone who gets their coffee out of a Cuisinart DCC-2800, would this Bonavita Something change my life?

eunuProbably more of a slight improvement. That's a 14 cup machine compared to this 8 cup. Do you utilize all 14 cups? The flat bottomed filter and shower head will most likely make a bit better cup than the Cuisinart.

SaeulfThank you for the reply--and the size is a good point, usually only six to eight cups are made at one time, so the extra capacity is only useful on occasion, and there is a larger machine for parties and events in storage. I'm interested in joining a coffeemaker drop, but it needs to brew coffee that tastes good enough to impress people with such low expectations of their coffee that half and half is their ideal ratio of flavored creamer to coffee.

eunuI hear you. I make a great coffee that wows guests, and I currently use a 5-cup Zojirushi. I need a larger one and this Bonavita is also SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) certified. However, the most important step you can take is grind your coffee fresh for each batch.

SaeulfThat's a good reminder, I have two grinders and neither has seen use in too long. I once visited a coffee shop where the owner said he imports his beans as close to the source as possible and always brews them within two weeks of delivery. It's been many years since I tasted his coffee, but I haven't had better.
