mvrk, Head-Fi is really closed minded towards EVERYTHING that allows anyone other than the super-rich to enjoy music.

As far as difficulty of the kit, the Crack itself is definitely an entry-level challenge. The Speedball is a tiny step up, but very easy after having done the Crack. If you can reliably make good solder joints using minimal heat and solder, and you're willing to read carefully and follow instructions (rather than just assuming you know what you should be doing), you'll end up with a very nice sounding amp at the end. Additionally, the staff at Bottlehead, along with the Bottlehead Forum are EXTREMELY good at helping you along if you have difficulties. For a first time kit builder, I'd suggest expecting about 3 days of construction working 2-3 hours a night. I've done a fair number of kits, but I'm not an expert by any means, and I pushed through and built mine in a single 5-hour session.
