Anyone considering this mic for your desk needs to know that it is a cardioid mic so it will require phantom power. Most mixers or DSPs can provide phantom power or you can aquire an inserter/adapter, but it will not work plugged in directly to a microphone input that does not provide phantom power.
This is kind of an odd item to be sold here. I'm a commercial A/V installer and have installed plenty of Astatic mics in restaurants, at gas station pumps, and retail stores. I can't say that I've ever been really impressed with any of them but they were suited to the application. Usually when I install table top boundary mics, they are very high quality Shure or Audio Technica costing at least 5 times the price of this one. Did Astatic up their game for this mic where audio quality matters or will it disappoint? If anyone has used one, I would love to hear your feedback. I'm almost tempted to buy this mic just to see what it sounds like even though I have no practical use for it.
