Is this somewhere in between the 2020 and the original? I don't see mention of things like Solid Body and 3D Optimized in the description but the cable and shell redesign is 2020. https://headfonics.com/campfire-audio-andromeda-2020-review/

Marcus22687I think the 2020 and solid body are the same model. These are the original andros.

EvilpandaYeah actually what I meant was solid body and 3D optimized are in the 2020 but it seems they updated the outer on this classic edition with the SS spout only. So I guess a special edition original.
Marcus22687So 2018 v1 is aluminum spout and non beveled edge. 2018 v1.5 has beveled edge. 2018 v2 has stainless steel spout. 2019 gets smoky cable and upgraded MMCX connector. 2020 has updated grill on the spout. This looks like the 2019 version. Edit: Difference between bezel and bevel.

JishengThe rabbit hole is deep on this one :)
Marcus22687Andromeda is Campfire’s golden goose, the special-sauce signature product of theirs, it makes sense that they’d want to make iterative improvements to it. I’ve got a couple of the special editions; the Gold and the Stainless Steel, and they’re both different developments of this sound.

TsiklonYes I know, I have several myself. Just attempting to clarify there is no solid body or 3D printing on this one like the 2020 version.

Marcus22687We must clarify if these irrelevant and incremental hype buzz word features will be included, to justify spending a grand on 6 BA iems. I mean after all, when you cheap out on materials you need every twist, turn and angle to reach your destination. Let’s sell iPhone 7 in 2021 for 5%-15% off original msrp and call it a good deal, ZERO reason to continue to charge these crazy prices for basic easy to make iems. Oh but don’t worry those 10 dollar to manufacture smoky “lit cable brah” litz cables will do the trick/make it all better, “smoothing” out the sound while simultaneously smoothing out our wallets, two birds. 🥲🤔

TsiklonPrecisely and impressively, they’re able to make even less incremental changes, while simultaneously milking the Andros for as long as humanly possible; with the help of Drop they are like Batman and Robin of the iem world. They’ve got Apple beat!

Jishengall versions post 2016 received the upgraded (“O” shaped housing vs “D”) mmcx connectors. edit: just throwing that out there, years after this post was made, in the event someone is searching online and having difficulty differentiating between the versions.

rapoonI have a 2018 Andromeda that says different. You can use the Wayback Machine and navigate to the Andromeda page. In 2017, it had an aluminum spout and was using the old connector. As of January 2019, it was still using the old connector and stainless steel spout which would put it as the 2018 v2. Wayback Machine had the first snapshot of the 2019 variant in July 2019 with the round connector.

JishengInitially, I was going to respond the same as you: my "2018" states otherwise as well. I paid for a 2018 version. The box states 2018 Andromeda. Yet, per this chart (just recently released) https://campfireaudio.com/andromeda-comparison/ mine are 2019 variant.
rapoonAnd if you look on the chart, it says mushroom MMCX under 2018 as with the original Andromeda. The current round "overmold" version started only with the 2019 version.

JishengThat's correct. That is what the chart, which didn't exist in 2019 when I walked into the Portland store and purchased my "2018" (note the quotes, because mine clearly are not the 2018 version) Andromedas directly from Chris, states.
