SocrateaseNo, it is not. "White box" 24-105s sell all day everyday b/w $500-600 (people or vendors separating kits). Used ones can be found for even less and even Canon factory refurbs with full warranties are on sale for ~$560 half the time.
Do not get me wrong, it is a great classic walk-around lens (even if its generation behind in tech), but it is also one of the the most plentiful out there.

LxJLthrDepends on what you want. A 24-70/2.8 by Tamron is a heavier but good choice if you want to use your zoom at night.
