I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

I am running Window 7 Enterprise 64-bit system. I have tried installing the universal driver with and without the unit plugged in. Updating the driver (7.4.18) with and without the unit plugged in. Plugging the provided USB cable into different outlets. Restarting the laptop. Jumping in a circles on one leg while patting my head and rubbing my stomach. Nothing. I am not getting sound from any media.
Any assistance is appreciated.
UPDATE: It also seems to be minor issues switching back to my old FiiO E7 with the CE Drivers installed. There are no issues once uninstalled.
What do you mean use another computer to update the firmware? Which firmware? DAC, operating system, codec, etc? And how would results with a different computer be any different?
This update can be done from any computer that correctly recognizes the Slim: for example... You can borrow a co-worker's MacBook for a few minutes and update the firmware on the slim. Firmware updates are permanent and dont generally need to be repeated (for the purposes of this conversation)
Edit: the firmware can be downloaded on this page, towards the bottom inside the tab labeled "Firmware": http://www.centrance.com/products/dacport/
However, DAC now works just fine on one of those laptops, but not mine. My computer keeps failing to install whatever drivers and subsequently still does not recognize the device. I have full admin rights to my work laptop. Obviously I am annoyed. But it is what it is.
You're on the right track, no spoilers :D
