Are driver issues still on going? Any way to use this driverless (or with Windows driver I guess) if you limit yourself to 24 / 96 playback?

TaetertotLatest drivers have been working well and is stable for me under windows 10, 8 and 7. Beta firmware 029 finally fixes the issue of the slim not being detected on Windows startup/wakeup. I've had my slim for about 12 months now and it gets used daily and I'm about to join this drop for another one as an Xmas present for a friend.

TaetertotI'll also note that unfortunately there's no way to use this without the CEntrance driver as far as I know.

SomeTechNoobNot a deal breaker, but disappointing. If this were driverless it'd be a no brainer, but now I have to consider the Fulla. This is obviously better spec wise, and I prefer the design so I'll probably join.

TaetertotIt's because Windows only natively supports up to 24/96. I hear there's updated support for higher res usb audio in the insider previews, but I haven't tried that out yet.

SomeTechNoobIs the decision to go with a driver (like this one, or Micca Origen) or driverless (like E10K, or Audioengine D1), an either/or proposition? I'd like for all DAC/AMPs let you operate in driverless 24/96 mode, with the option of installing driver (if any) to run higher modes. But maybe that's technically problematic to pull off; I don't know of a single DAC/AMP that gives you the choice.

TaetertotHigher end stuff, like the Schiit Modi 2, has a switch for that. You can toggle between standard(24/96, driverless) and expert mode(24/192). You can see it in the manual: http://schiit.com/public/upload/PDF/modi_2_manual.pdf
The Modi itself costs the same amount as the Slim though, and it's only a DAC. Way different price league.
