Looks to be a carbon copy of Billingham bags, right down to the water proofing, at half the price. Interesting.

david.zamoraInteresting! This style of fishing bag has been around much longer than either Chapman or Billingham has existed, so while I don't think they're making a copy of that bag per se the similarities are definitely striking!

david.zamoraThey look very similar but Billingham makes camera bags which means that padded insert that comes with the Billingham takes up the entire bag.
The waterproofing is definitely not the same, however. The top flap of the Billingham covers the edges of the bag, thereby preventing water from entering. The padded insert also has a top flap. Billingham's system is superior to what Chapman and almost everyone else uses. The Billingham also uses a synthetic fabric, not canvas, that's completely waterproof.
I've never owned a Chapman but I do own the exact Billingham you posted. I've had it for about five years now and, aside from the front leather straps, It looks almost new. I'm pretty sure it'll outlast me.
This isn't a knock on Chapman or their bags. I've never used them so I wouldn't claim that they're not as good as the Billingham, but the Chapman is definitely not a carbon copy at half price. They serve very different roles.

RashkhThanks, Rashkh. I own the Hadley as well. I've yet to meet a bag its equal in quality. Every time I use it, the bag looks new. Gotta love that. But yeah, I think I was more concerned about the actual design copy than anything else. Thanks for the write up!
