I am disappointed. These are much thinner than I expected. The Costco hiking socks are at least TWICE as thick. These do seem to be quality socks, just not the level of ruggedness, warmth, and cushioning I’d hoped for.
NorfizzleI actually want MORE padding when I’m WORKING than when I’m hiking. Work puts a lot more stress on my feet, even though it’s probably fewer steps. Still, only ONE pair of Darn Tough socks has had remotely enough padding on the heel. I have no idea what they’re called (maybe “hiking”) because the package is long gone. But I wish I could just return every other pair of Darn Tough, for a replacement of the DARN GOOD socks! :-)
captainCostco hiking socks shrink and just don’t last as long. Darn tough hiking socks are awesome. Just don’t buy on here, they’re selling for more than I can go and buy directly for
DlstechIf they have the style and size you want, REI is even cheaper. ;-)
One of the things I liked about the Costco socks was that they would shrink to fit, like Levi’s 501s! I never had to worry about those socks falling down. I’m coming to like these darn tough socks, but they don’t have the staying power that the Costcos did. They also don’t have nearly the amount of padding, unless you get the super, extra, heavy, maximum “cushion“. I need to figure out what they actually call it, and make sure I get that, not the mid range “cushion“, which is just too thin for my taste.
