Product Description
Made to meet the needs of the Ultralight Community, this backpack delivers a weight of 32 ounces using a blend of fabrics to withstand decades of use. It’s been designed by thru-hiker Dan Durston for efficiency, simplicity, longevity, and comfort.
No one from Drop acknowledged/answered this. With everything going on, I think it’s not shipping as stated. TOTALLY understand that, just wish I could have had an answer or even a response. That does bother me.
Tbrad425I don't think Drop ever answers in the Q&A. Seemingly they just have the Q&A for discussion within the community (making it not much different than the "discussion" section). I tried to answer this a couple weeks ago in the discussion (link) but I don't have inside info on where things are at.
I agree with you that an update from Drop would be appropriate, given that the estimated ship date is rapidly approaching (April 4) and all the uncertainty going on with the virus. With other drops, we have seen updates from them in the past when there are delays, so I expect it won't be long until we either see this ship or get an update. I don't think they would let it be late (post April 4) and without an update, so hopefully we get some clarity this week. I sent them an email last week to ask about this topic, so I will also update here if I hear back from them.
dandurstonI know you don't control this part of the process and I appreciate you taking time to respond to me. I really thought that Drop did monitor and answer the Q&A section, so thank you for setting me straight on that. There really should be a way to ask them questions directly, seems like an area they could definitely improve. I'm really looking forward to receiving this pack. Granted I can't take it out for awhile, but I will have fun trying different load configurations until then. Again, thank you for the response. Stay healthy and God bless!
Tbrad425It should work to get in touch if you go to your profile and click "transactions" -> "active" -> "contact support". No guarantee they respond but that message should go to them.
Tbrad425FYI - We’re back with an update on the Durston 40L Backpack. After production initially wrapped up, our vendor found that parts of the straps weren’t made to spec. As a result, the vendor is remaking them, which now puts us at a new estimated ship date of mid-June.
The backpack also works for regular travel, where features like the quick access pockets can be handy for accessing your items on the move. Where it differs from a regular travel pack is that it does place an emphasis on saving weight, so the fabrics are not as durable as typical luggage fabrics, nor is it as heavily padded as some travel backpacks are that don't worry about weight.
We had several female testers for the pack and took their helpful feedback into consideration, such as with the sternum strap where we extended the rails taller so it could be moved higher if desired. So it's not a women's specific pack but it is a unisex design that should work well for most women.
