I went from a low profile black case to this high profile bronze case. It looks incredible, excited for my Dwarvish keys to come in to really set it off. It weighs more than I anticipated but that’s a good thing. Great build, high quality and I’d purchase again in a heart beat for the price.
I thought I was being clever by getting the case and the PCB separate because it was cheaper but it screwed me because the case doesn't come with the light diffuser in the middle and I ended up having to stuff it with packing material to get the thickness I needed.
Solid construction - keep the function keymap handy
I bought this a few years ago to build a keyboard for my wife and wanted to get her something with a smaller footprint for her (at the time) very small desk. This fit the bill perfectly and the lavender color is a great look, particularly in the high profile setup. Aesthetically I will say I generally prefer the high profile over the low profile. In addition, when assembling the keyboard I added some sound dampening material which can be a tight squeeze but worked out perfectly for me.
Overall I appreciate the build quality, it's been several years and is still holding together very well, though it's time for me to re-lube the switches I think and I'm not looking forward to that too much. The only thing to keep in mind if you are not use to this size keyboard is you'll probably want to bookmark the page with the function key extensions or keep the paper they give you nearby as sometimes games will ask you to press some keys that are not immediately present on the keyboard.
We bought a separate Tenkey pad which helped out quite a bit and it daisy chains to the keyboard as well without issue.
Learn from my mistake: just buy the high profile to begin with
Originally, I bought the Drop ALT, but the lower profile. It was just fine, but it really bugged me that I could see the switches and the "underneath" of the keyboard. At the time, this high profile case was on sale, and decided to buy it for my ALT and see if I could easily switch out the cases. Not only was it so easy to switch the cases for my ALT, but it looks and sounds so much better. If you are thinking of buying the Drop ALT, and are not sure if you want the low-profile or high-profile: save your money from the beginning and just buy the high profile.
All that being said, I have no complaints about this case. Looks great, and I can't wait to use my ALT a little bit more now.
The high profile case is so much better than the regular alt case.
The weight of this case makes the exact same keyboard feel more premium. I went with the bronze. I loved it on my one of my CTRL keyboards so I had to get one for my regular ALT.
The ALT is a good keyboard and I love it. But the higher profile is amazing. It looks. So. Much. Nicer. It feels so much nicer. It feels like I have a high end keyboard.
