Looks great. The case is quality. The diffuser looks nice. If you have an original ALT board and not a fan of the sound/typing angle this may help. I think they actually same angle with the magnetic feet attached.
Downside is the card that came with it card with a QR code and URL for assembly that just redirected to drop.com. It's pretty straight forward but I could see first timers being confused about swapping the stabs. Drop really should fix the URL.
Also while you're at it sell the ALT PCB so I can do something with the empty shell of my old case!
Andy_WhoDoes the color show up as prominently as it does in the photos that Drop provides? I'm thinking of pairing this with my GMK Bushido set, and I'm wondering if it'll pair well. Also, it seems like you swapped from a regular Alt to a high profile, which is also what I'm doing, is there any sound difference? Thanks :)
patrickatfremontDrop photo is pretty close to me for the color.
Pretty big sound difference! just make sure you mod the stabilizers to get rid of that rattle. hopefully comes out great!
I ordered bronze color. It has a luxurious feel.
And Very Heavy. I like it.
but I didn't know led diffuser is required.
(It's also fault for not reading the details, but I think it's also the drop's fault for the not marking it out loud.)
So I tried to buy it separately, but it was out of stock. Therefore I bought it on Amazon.
But I wanted use this case right now, so I put a tissue in the space where the diffuser goes. (because I'm living in Korea, delivery is so slow.)
Then I can still use it without any problems.
But this isn't bad either... maybe pretty?
If someone makes the same mistake as me, I hope they will deal with it as I did.
Learn from my mistake: just buy the high profile to begin with
Originally, I bought the Drop ALT, but the lower profile. It was just fine, but it really bugged me that I could see the switches and the "underneath" of the keyboard. At the time, this high profile case was on sale, and decided to buy it for my ALT and see if I could easily switch out the cases. Not only was it so easy to switch the cases for my ALT, but it looks and sounds so much better. If you are thinking of buying the Drop ALT, and are not sure if you want the low-profile or high-profile: save your money from the beginning and just buy the high profile.
All that being said, I have no complaints about this case. Looks great, and I can't wait to use my ALT a little bit more now.
Can't say it's worth the full price, but on sale it's pretty tempting if you ruined yours already, or just regret getting the wrong profile, or both... So finally took an opportunity to replace my worn down low profile ALT's case, looks good as new, almost.
Though I strongly recommend you to check if all of your keeb stabilizers can actually be removed and reinstalled back securely, and aren't just barely holding on by faith alone. All stock 3 of mine completely lost the plastic retainer tension, and trust me, neither hot glue nor toothpicks really work, even if used together. So consider getting some of better quality, even if they are just somewhat loose. And yeah, there's definitely some yellowing going on with the diffuser, but nothing too bad after 3 years of use.
5 stars for me, but only if on sale
Very well made with quality anondizing and no imperfections. The acoustics are not great, even after adding foam, but the quality and finish of the aluminum is excellent.
Love the arctic blue color. Looks great with SA Laser. I have the same minor fit issue as I had with the silver CTRL case. Fits and lines up perfectly with the edge of the diffuser except on the left side. Maybe just 1-2mm off.
