Monitor + grills is 1 dollar off from free shipping. That just feels engineered to squeeze a few bucks out of us.
xpewpewThis kinda beats the point for me. I'd preorder if I could get free shipping. I'll just wait until reviews come out and order with free shipping if it's good at this point.
Or round it off at $120. $125 seems odd. I did add the KOSS KSC75X since it was available and I had always planned on picking it up (even though I have plenty of pretty good IEMs) so I got the free shipping. But yeah does seem odd.

How is there not one single actual review of this product?

This precisely.
“Obviously this price-point makes it a little easier to justify the risk (especially if no-question cancellations will be available between reviews dropping & fulfillment).” Indeed, cancellations and returns are available! Sort of like buying a pair of Logitech computer speakers from a big box store, a little faith is part of the equation. When it comes to prototypes, I know there are a few different ones on the other side of the country from me (I’m on the east coast). I think at this point they’ve reached the design with the sound they were targeting, but reviews would come from production quality samples rather than rough prototypes so as to better represent what customers would receive. As far as graphs go, if Drop does release them for a $129 product, we all know that the room and listening environment greatly shapes the graphs and tonal response, and the measurement conditions cannot possibly match all the different setups people will use them for. There may be graphs, but I wouldn’t compare them to headphone graphs. I’m more interested in hearing if there’s distortion at normal playback volume, how far I can reasonably be positioned and have a good response (obviously turning up the volume a bit with distance), and take note of other things that stand out but I didn’t consider ahead of time. I’m not expecting these to be mastering monitors for a home production studio, nor able to unseat big floorstanding speakers in a large living room, but how they compare to computer desktop speakers (I have a pair of Logitech and a Creative Katana). I think they’ll have a bit of diffuse imaging if I’m not sitting close to them… sort of like the way Bose speakers have a wide dispersal pattern, but the product designers have told me the spatial /soundstage presentation is impressive in a near-field setup.

The price seems quite high on these for a small speaker and a crappy built-in amp. Closer to $79-89 seems more appropriate than $129. At the price you expect to charge for these, I would expect a much better quality amp. THD of .4% in a 1khz rating instead of full range (20hz-20khz) is pretty bad, especially since that is a rating at a lower power level edit: Given the truly awful frequency response I see you claim these to have (in comments area), you really should have just used the BMR driver as the highs and mids and replaced the passive radiator at the bottom with an oval-shaped dynamic woofer for the lows with a crossover around the 150-180hz area. That larger passive you have right now is not helping you with anything useful if you still only get to 80hz as your -6db point with it. That means probably closer to 120hz as the more standard -3db rating. Also, rating the frequency response with a non-standard -6 instead of the industry standard -3 is a bit dishonest.

Also, I just took the bait and actually believed you for a second. Now I feel dumb lol. If by "involved in speaker production" you mean stuffing kilos of goods sold by weight into speakers before shipping then I could buy that. If that is the case please forget I said anything I'll be moving along now sorry for bothering you.

Ricky-BobbyLoL Language, mate, language... I meant REAL speakers - 45 kg a piece. And you would be quite surprised how cheap an actual tweeter, sqawker or woofer is when you buy it from a mass producer...

will add USB connection? 3.5mm is outdated

I also find the Bluetooth a nice addition that was probably rather an easy implementation.

vg278heAlmost every consumer audio source at this price level has a 3.5mm out or something else like an analog RCA that can be converted to it. While yes this has a DAC for Bluetooth what's enough for Bluetooth audio probably won't be able to take full advantage of a high bitrate source file. Byo DAC is honestly the better approach.
guess I'll wait for reviews but when I saw 3.5mm and BT in only kinda lost interest.
The narrow design of the speaker baffle prevented the use of RCA sockets, however a simple RCA to 3.5mm cable will achieve the same result.

quicklytoo4Same. I think a USB C port could fit and not break the slim design aesthetics.

So the first run sold out and started and hour and a half before the announced drop time? How is that even remotely fair for west coast buyers?
Thank you so much for saying that.
edhmarkVery sorry edhmark, it was an error and we apologize. On the bright side, the preorder pricing is still valid on all orders at $99 until February 28th this year. @573V0 We’re definitely trying to step up our communications, the community created at this site has always been a core part of (Mass)DROP!

My mouse is now broken from smashing the buy button. It was like adrenaline fueled purchasing, followed by an end zone style celebration where I flipped the table and made sure my cat knew what a dominant and superior creature I am for having bought these. Take that, cat.

So the "Request" resulted in only an internal (to Drop) notification, and not an e-mail??? What's the point of that? That's pretty damn dumb. I finally decided to check Drop manually to see if these had dropped, and found out that I was so late to the party that my order will go into the 3rd batch!! I almost decided against ordering just because of this. Ridiculous!

Jyri_DropThank you.
What am I missing here? According to the opening page, they are now selling their "sixth run". Why has no one independently tested and reviewed the first run? A good product will sell itself. Independent verification would only help enhance the reputation of this product and drive even better sales. The people at Drop should have the integrity to stop taking new orders until they can prove that they can deliver the product they have promised at the level of performance they have represented. The buyers at Drop have to exercise a little patience and not reward bad business practices. Wait until independent reviews before you throw your money at nothing but unsubstantiated hype. If it turns out to be a good product, they will make more. Just look at how many HD 6XX headphones have been produced. Has any company stopped producing a product because it was too good?

candygram4mongoRuns are based on production and shipping lead-times. Our goal is to start shipping to customers at the same time as we ship to reviewers. No harm on waiting further reviews before placing an order though. First batch is in production and soon in our warehouse.

Jyri_DropPerhaps there is a language barrier. We can all sympathize with manufacturing delays due to material and logistic shortages. What I do not understand is your explanation why you continue to take orders. Your first "run" was only 200 units and has not been delivered or even evaluated by any independent party. How do you expect to deliver the further 3000+ orders you have taken orders for, if you cannot deliver 200?

Okay, so DROP decides that they are going to ship a longer cable after MONTHS of this being an issue... YET, I still have to pay 15 USD for shipping because I live in Canada. DROP - you are a Corsair company, you can ship internationally.. I don't think its fair I pay to have a cable shipped to me that you are replacing.
