bereantrbI have the High Route, which has more space, but the vestibules in this tent would seem to be more usable for storing larger gear such as a backpack. Oh, and besides being lighter it is 2/3 the cost of the High Route. And I just figured out that another big difference is that the poles are set up inside far enough to be stable (theoretically) without guying the peaks - the High Route has the poles set up just inside the doors and requires guylines to keep the peaks from flopping over.
bereantrbFormer HR1 owner here. While I liked the HR1, this design seems to be MUCH MORE user friendly. The lack of vestibule space in the HR1 with the inner mesh installed was a killer. The inner in the HR1 is 30" wide (I think) vs 28" on the X-Mid but the exponential amount of vestibule space you gain trumps that small loss of width. Additionally not having to rely on guy lines all time time will be nice.
