Dahunwhat the heck was wrong with me when i commented that, I don't know why the heck I commented that, I'm genuinely sorry. I must have been feeling pretty suicidal and depressed then, lol.

patrick-waldchenOh, I didn't get hurt that much, and thanks to you, I think I've edited my comment to be more precise, so I've learned one thing. Thank you so much for your apologies. Have a nice day!!☺️☺️

Yay for Mac compatibility, but I'm really nervous about how flexible the kitting will be in general. Will we see new molds like 2u shift, F13, and international support that MT3 never received? Will there be the capability (and willingness) to make novelty keys, rather than just recolors? Will there be blanks available, like the ones that never materialized for 3277? I've held off from purchasing keycaps from Drop for several months now, because I kept receiving sets with multiple missing and duplicate keys. Will these come from the same factories, and go through the same QA process?

Yeah, things were moving fast earlier this weekend, and it briefly looked like he was willing to ignore it, before they insulted him again.

No clue why Drop is acting so strangely here. Why not at least approach matt3o when beginning to work on MT2, and why not at least inform them a couple of months before going public with it? Even accepting all that, why then not at least shut up about this whole thing after the initial controversy. Really bad look and pointless self owns by Drop here.

would be nice to see an actual profile comparison with something we know... mt3, cherry, anything really. these look an awful lot like cherry (but oddly uniform in height... like dsa/xda) from the top down pics, but that can obviously be deceiving.

mdotI asked them for this on r/mechmarket and they replied back with: "We don't have a diagram like you've linked, and it wouldn't be very useful to tack MT2 onto that one as the scaling would be off. However, I will say that it's a cylindrical, sculpted profile, designed from the ground up with some improvements/modifications (different degree of sculpt, slightly different row heights, and different scoop to the top of the keys - to name a few)." Thanks for the cool marketing words, but that doesn't give me a visual of the profile. Even Cannonkeys released a visual comparison with their CXA profile keycaps here: https://cannonkeys.com/collections/cannonkeys-keycaps/products/cxa-bow-wob

Are you going to correct the "Shif t" ?
Yep, this is the right way to illustrate and compare the gaps. Now add the individual character injection tolerances, and the fact that small features shrink more than large features (i.e. the arms on t's and f's are never as wide as they are modelled) and you end up with the result that you see. If we make our stroke widths wider, they'll shrink less relative to the tolerance gaps, and the result is the spacing would look less disproportionate. But then you also have blobby legends that are less sharp- it's a trade off that we've actively accepted.

The lack or ortho support is rather disappointing. 1u mods are helpful for a lot of other layouts. I feel for the 40s and Ergo users just as much as anyone with a non-standard 65% layout.
rudbearIt's okay, only about 15 people in the world use something like that.

PulicadelavranceaLiterally every single layout benefits from added 1u support, but ortho and ergo are growing parts of the market.
  • Any layout with non-standard bottom row or function columns (a lot of customs)
  • The many 60% (5x15) PCBs with arrow keys and 1u support around the arrow cluster
  • Non-English or Non-ANSI layouts
  • FC660 or custom clusters
  • The many, many ergo mechs (Ergodox, Glove, Dactyl, etc.)
Watch group-buy numbers and you'll see that there are sometimes more ortho kits sold than FN+numpads indicating that DROP customers have more ortho boards than full size. On top of that, DROP frequently sells ortho keyboards and the Planck and Preonic are technically their keyboards, yet they don't offer support for them. I believe the SHIFT would also benefit from added 1u support, as would any non-standard 1800 layout.

if we're "a few weeks away from shipping" -- why are we looking at a render and not final/near final product?

MrMarBecause for some reason they want to tease us with information instead of just releasing it.

More ABS. I want a commitment from Drop to reduce landfill waste by ending ABS use in keycaps. They shine quickly and get tossed in the trash because fatty oil is an ABS solvent. PBT however isn't succeptible to fatty oils like ABS. It is a superior plastic for keycaps, objectively speaking, only costing a cent more per batch due to mold separation issues. Time to go green and stop filling landfills with more plastic of intentionally designed to fail keycaps.

BitvarABS is recyclable. Shine can be removed with a very high grit polishing paper/pad like zona or micromesh. I like the smoothness of ABS. It depends on the person, not everyone likes the feel of PBT. I have a couple PBT sets and the quality is low, I don't enjoy them compared to my ABS sets. It depends on the person, really, there are a lot of subjective factors.

scottschRemoving material with sandpaper isn't a solution. I'm happy that you've managed to navigate justifying keycaps that degrade in weeks yet cost 100+ though. But I won't do that.

Chances are pretty good that you’ve heard of our new keycap profile, DCX. In case you haven’t yet, take a look at the first three story posts for some extra information on the profile. It’s been a long journey of iterating and improving to end up with a profile we are super proud of.  I’m excited to announce that the first three sets (WoB, BoW, and Genesis) have all launched as of this morning!  I have had the opportunity to handle and inspect the WoB set in person, and I have to say - the alphas on these keys are impeccable. Where some other sets might have a slight wobble to the legends, DCX are super crisp and even. In addition, the attention paid to the little details is apparent and most welcome. Have you ever noticed how some keys have multiple lines of legends on them, and they don’t quite line up left or right justified to each other? Not here. These are just a few of the aspects that have been refined during the development of DCX - see our story posts for the full details. :)  Pre-orders are live as of today, with early bird pricing of $79 available until April 30th. Prices will then go up to preorder prices of $89 until we are closer to ship. First run quantities are limited so don’t sleep on it if you’re interested.  Shipping for WoB and BoW is expected to begin by mid-June (Mac Kits slightly later), while Genesis should begin shipping by mid-August.  Cancellations are accepted up until the shipping date, with no fees charged for cancellations. No-hassle returns for US and International customers are accepted until 30 days after you've received your keycaps. Don’t just take my word for it, though. We have a few review sets making the rounds and I will update this post with links to reviewers’ thoughts on the keysets as they come in.  Also, please join at 1pm PDT (3pm CDT if you're like me :) ) for a live Q&A session regarding the DCX profile! The post will go live a couple hours early to collect questions ahead of time. Note: Discussion section for DCX keysets are all shared across the three colorways releasing today.

The lack of answer is telling me no, but then again it haven't been that long since your question. There's so many keycap sets i'd buy if only they had NORDE support too.

Please do consider having 40% kit or three key 40% support. Please don't or what ever. I'm disgusted about the whole MT standing for MiTo not Matt3o thing. I wouldn't be buying the MT2 series anyway.
