Hey everyone! Etymotic has been hard at work to release a new collab IEM with us, the ERX In-Ear Monitors. These combine two aspects of some of their most popular products - the ER4 sound profile in their EVO shells - making for a more comfortable listening experience.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! Please post any questions below and I'll do my best to answer. :)
Reviews from external sources are in process and will be linked here once complete.
It would be nice to include what kind of measurement rig was used written on the graph too. B&K, GRAS, etc. (I'm assuming it was the GRAC 43AC or IEC60318-4 equivalent?)
Will Drop carry replacement cables for ERX? Since the connection is not as universal as MMCX or 0.78 mm connectors, it would be really nice if Drop carried some replacement cable options. Maybe even balanced?
I've been really enjoying these IEM, but recently, the cable plug has become sensitive and cuts out. At first I thought it was my dap, but it started happening with other sources too. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement cable?
mimiflynnYou're not alone. One of the few "not recommended" reviews had issues with this out of the box, and I've had issues with it lately myself. I just picked up a replacement cable for $75, and am really hoping it resolves the issue. If you search "Estron T2 replacement cable" you should find several options. I'll add an edit when I have an update with the replacement cable, but this has been pretty disappointing.
mimiflynnThe first set and the LEFT channel did not work. They sent a replacement. I laid it down on the counter and the back separated from the main body. I had to go buy super glue and fix it. Paid $7.95 for Gorilla Glue because all the discount stores were closed. Drop you owe me $7.95 plus tax!!! (Pa). What can go wrong next!!???!!
I have a question. Are there decent portable, very small, bluetooth amps or really good adapters to match the plug amiable (here preferably)? Why? I'd want to use these with an iPhone 13 or a new iPad Pro to edit and mix, as well listen. Thanks
If you connect the Qudelix 5k or Earstudio ES100 to your iPhone with a lightning to USB cable, both of these bluetooth dongles (also others) have built-in mics that would let you take a call or take down a voice memo. I checked with Qudelix, it works this way!
Delays happen.. and still looking forward to these after they ship, now showing 14 November. Only my second 'big ticket' IEM purchase here on Drop.
Will be interesting how they perform, compared to JVCs, which looked great but continue to underwhelm.
BitvarI don't have the blessing 2 on hand, but from memory, I found the B2 to have superior bass, but I prefer the treble "quality" of the ERX. The B2 has a great treble response overall, but there was always some small niggle in there somewhere that made the treble sound less clear and transparent to me. Minor as it was, I'd take the EX treble, but the B2 bass...
