Product Description
Our fourth collaboration with custom knife shop Ferrum Forge, the Buc (short for buccaneer) is the most daring yet—and now it comes in milled patterns for a touch of extra flair. It takes inspiration from traditional Asian cavalry sabres, which is in large part thanks to designer Elliot Williamson’s interest in historical edged weapons Read More

Why is Drop screwing its own customers by drastically dropping prices on its collabs? WTF? Resale goes from $100-110 to 80 bucks? Way to screw us Drop. Never again.

Are you seriously buying things on Drop as investments? I think maybe you should buy a knife to cut things.

whipsterWhat a concept! Altho I am richer than most of the world, I am poor compared to most others in America. I purchase knives because I like them. And if they happen to be in my pocket, I will cut things with them.

I don't see how dropping prices is ever a bad thing... Over time, things go down in price. That's how the market works. Stuff doesn't make money sitting on a shelf.

One of the original goals for Drop was to funnel money into creators so they could reach a bigger market and bring their prices down. Looks like a win!

What is a frame lock?

It is just as the name implies, the locking mechanism incorporates the frame as its primary component. The frame is milled in such a way that when the blade is opened, a part of the frame bends inward to hold the blade in place. I personally am not a huge fan of frame locks, because I'm left handed, so the part of the frame that bends is usually something that I have to work around when opening knives. It just requires holding the knife slightly differently, but it can require conscious effort when you first get into frame locks.

What is CPM-S35VN stainless steel with satin finish?

S35VN is a higher tier EDC metal since it is very strong, holds a very sharp edge, and doesn’t rust. However, you have to be careful with what you cut (meats and some vegetables like radish) since it can discolor the metal.

Has anyone deciphered the Buc’s serial number codes? I received my Buc today (Bronze Supernova) and the serial number is SZ015. I assume this is # 15 but what does the “SZ” mean? “S” for Supernova and “Z” for Bronze? I’ve seen pics from another poster to the site and his is a blue mothership. Serial # is ML072 so I’m thinking M for mothership and L for Blue...... maybe? What do you guys think? For context, I picked up my Buc from Amazon so I did not have to wait for the drop later this month. Paid a darn premium for it too. Suppose it’s from the 1st drop which is why the # is 15. Thanks

FWIW I have an Original Bronze and the SN starts with 'OZ', so I think you are on the money with Z = 'Bronze'

Green brick of love. Long enough to keep all your knives sharp, including kitchen knives. Knife sharpening is a skill everyone who ever uses a knife should have. Don't have to spend $100's on spyderco specialty kits, when you can buy a single, all purpose stone that will last a lifetime.
