It Lives Up to My Expectation
Everyone's expectation is different. Although I have high hope for Holy Panda, I tried to keep my expectation in check. I have not tried all the switches under the sun nor do I have all type of key caps at my arsenal; but I do have quite a few to compare. I used to like clicky heavy switches and Cherry MX Blue were my go to switch. Four out of eight keyboards I currently own came with Cherry MX Blue out of the box. Two are Gateron Blue and one was Cherry MX Brown. I don't like liner type switches, but I like tactile switches. I grew tired of Cherry MX Blue after I started comparing tactile feedback and sound signature against different type of keycaps, and numerous other switches. In my option, Cherry MX Blue performs better than all three Gateron switches (Blue, Brown, Green) I tired. There is one thing that Cherry MX Blue really irritates me. That is the ringing sound I heard across all keycaps on Cherry MX Blue when I bottom out. Every time after I press down a key and release it, it gives me this subtle ring that keeps getting louder the faster I type. But none of the switches I tried came close to overall feel and sound of Cherry MX Blue until I tried Hako switches. Only Hako Royal True sounds better than Cherry MX Blue, but it was too heavy compared to Cherry MX Blue. When I compare Cherry MX Blue to Hako Royal True, it gave me the tactile feedback and sound signature I was looking for. I want something that sound like Hako Royal True but with lighter tactile that is closer to Cherry MX blue. I knew if I can get a switch lighter tactile than Hako Royal True, but a similar but more subtle feel than Cherry MX Blue, I can retire from this hobby. At least from the key switches and PCB layouts. Then, I read about Holy Panda switch that combined two switches into one to give unique sound signature. I listened to typing tests around the Internet and checked their tactile signature against all switches. I blindly pull a trigger on 110 switches twice on Drop. One set for Kira keyboard at work and another for my GK 84 at home with some switches to spare. I have never been happier to type and hear the Holy Pandas with either SA or DSA profiles. My search for perfect switch has ended. I found my holy grail. I am more than happy with my purchase. Holy Panda has stretch the itch I was having for 5 years.

Better than I thought
I'd like to preface this with I did not open these switches up and lube them. These are stock. Everything feels fine to me, not sure why people are so upset. While I was waiting for these I ordered some yok housings with some halo trues and 68g sprit springs + 3203 lube and figured it would be the same. These were totally different and more tactile. Maybe it's the 68g sprit that made them not the same I'm not sure. I also bought some 67g zealios v2 and I don't understand how people say these are more tactile than holy pandas. Holy pandas were much better than zealios v2 for sure. I have shared my these 3 different switches with my coworkers and we are in agreement that the holy pandas were the best out of the 3. They are endgame switches for sure and I'll probably have to buy more than the 180 I bought on the first drop

Hi Everyone,  Recently we’ve seen a lot of discussion around the materials used in Holy Pandas and we feel the need to clarify. When we launched the Holy Panda switch in 2018, we confirmed the top housing was Polycarbonate: https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-invyr-holy-panda-mechanical-switches/talk/2280647?utm_source=linkshare&referer=R6FTNP So every Holy Panda out in the wild is using a polycarbonate top housing that’s painted to match the Nylon bottom.  Quick note: Nylon is a thermoplastic, a class of plastics that melt to liquid when exposed to heat (gets more slippery under friction/heat), and have poor impact resistance. Polycarbonate has great impact resistance, and bad friction behavior (ever rubbed two CD cases together?) so poly/nylon blends are very common.  When we re-launched the Holy Panda switch in Feb 2020, we posted saying the housing was going to be POM: https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-invyr-holy-panda-mechanical-switches/talk/2572608 This was a miscommunication; Holy Panda housing is and has always been Polycarbonate top with Nylon bottom.  If you purchased out of a desire for POM switches, we apologize for the confusion and we’re glad to offer a refund, please reach out to support via your transaction page.    If you purchased out of desire for the Holy Panda switches that have been highly recommended since release, know that your Holy Panda switches are representative of every other Holy Panda switch we have produced.  The Holy Panda page has been revised to correct this typo.  Sorry for the confusion and a big apology to the MK theorycrafting community for the anti-climactic conclusion.

But you do admit Drop profitted off of "screwing the community" right? Like, a single extra unit sold off of blatantly false advertising is direct profit from screwing the community.

Hey everyone, it's time for an update! June 16th Update: The Holy Panda Switches for the orders with estimated ship date of June 22nd are being shipped to us from China in two large batches. When they arrive, orders will be fulfilled on a first-in first-out basis. The first batch of orders (6700 orders) has already been picked up by the shipping company from the factory in China and they are on the way to us. We are expecting these orders to start shipping from our warehouse in the last week of June. The remaining orders (approx 4200 orders) will be part of the second batch and production is expected to be completed in the first week of July. With the transit time involved, we are expecting to start shipping these orders out from our warehouse on the week of July 20th. The Drop Support Team will be sending emails to community members who are part of the pre-order to give an update on what batch they are in and when they can expect their order to ship. Here's a photo of what nearly a million holy panda switches look like....
search

June 30th update: Switches have arrived at our warehouse and are being unpacked this afternoon/tomorrow. Tracking numbers should start going out over the coming days. July 1st update: We're still unpacking/counting the bulk order that came in. Hoping we can get orders shipping before the July 4th weekend, if not they'll be shipping next week. July 7th update: Unpacking still happening, our warehouse labor/attendance has been very poor over the long weekend. Sorry that this keeps getting delayed. This likely won't make you feel any better- but our latest launches (Skylight keycaps and Aluminum cases) have 2+ week delayed ship dates because we need to ship the Holy Panda's before we can start shipping those units. I know you're all frustrated with the delays, we are too and we're really trying to get these processed and shipped as quickly (and safely) as possible. July 8th update: I see tracking numbers going out!! Not too many yet but they're moving. I see 144 orders shipped so far, will update again at the end of the day with how far we got. Thanks to everyone for being so understanding. July 8th Update #2: 605 orders shipped so far... I'm hitting refresh as often as all of you! July 8th Update #3: 881 orders shipped so far... I think they're done for the day. July 9th Update: 2501 orders shipped, we're making amazing progress today. I hope we can keep this pace up here for the next few days. July 10th Update: 4500 orders have been shipped now. The entire first batch is almost done. I wouldn't read too much into the "reserved for shipment" status etc, it changes a bit since we have to do a bunch of finicking in our database to try to get these allocated correctly. Shipment dates are mostly FIFO but there's some sequencing issues that we've run into so that's why you're seeing a handful of "recent" orders having been shipped out. I'm trying to get a status update on our second shipment (due to arrive around July 20th), to get better visibility on how that's coming along. Have a great weekend all. July 14th Update: Nearly all of the first batch of orders have shipped out. They should be done by tomorrow. To shed a bit more light on the FIFO situation, the warehouse is backlogged due to COVID social-distancing requirements. Our "packing area" that would normally have 10 people working for us can only accommodate 4 safely. With an order of this magnitude they setup an entirely different area just to handle Holy Panda orders. During this unusual process and setup, the importance of FIFO processing was lost in translation and the result was that about 10% of orders shipped "out of sequence". At the end of the day, some people who were supposed to be in the second batch ended up getting their order shipped early with the first batch, and some that were supposed to be in the first batch, will need to wait until the second batch. We sincerely apologize for this mishap and appreciate your patience while we deal with processing these orders as quickly and efficiently as possible. A $10 credits will be issued to people who participated in the Run IDs: 93469, 94384, 94759, and 95151. (The RUN ID is the first part of your Order number, i.e. MDX-93469-232848). Those credits will be issued on Friday July 17th. In regards to the "second shipment" of switches, the factory told us that they expect to be finished packing them this week which is a few days later than expected. Based on this, the best case scenario is that the second batch will ship during the week of July 27th, but that could slip by a week if transportation or customs clearance is delayed. I'll continue to provide updates as information becomes available. July 21st Update: Switches are finished at the manufacturer. They're working on booking them onto a truck to get them driven to the airport and they'll be flown over to JFK, then clear customs, then get put onto a truck and driven to our warehouse. Optimistic timeline is that they're at our warehouse by the end of next week, and they ship out starting August 3rd. Logistics hiccups could slow that down and I'll update everyone as we track and watch our shipment cross the globe. July 25th Update: We tried to get an update from factory/courier on Friday about the status of the pickup of a shipment, haven't heard back from them. Will post again on Sunday/Monday when we've hopefully heard back from them. July 27th Update: The switches have been picked up from the factory, and they're working on booking it onto a plane to the US. If things move smoothly, they'll be at JFK airport by Friday July 31st. Then it takes 1-3 days to clear customs, and 1-3 days to get from JFK to our warehouse, and then they start unpacking/counting and finally shipping. More updates once we get an expected JFK arrival date. July 31st Update: Latest update is that we're expecting the plane to arrive later today; or over the weekend. I'm away next week but someone else will be posting updates in my absence. Logistics team is standing by ready to receive and immediately ship (in proper order) the orders as soon as they get to warehouse. Have a good and safe weekend everyone! August 3rd Update: Hey everyone, AlexP here. I'm still waiting on an update regarding the arrival of these switches, but wanted to let you know that I'm checking in regularly and will post here as soon as I have any news. Hope you had a good weekend. Part deux: Units are scheduled to arrive in the warehouse this Wednesday(August 5th). As Kevin mentioned earlier, we will have people on ready to get all these ready to ship as quickly as possible and fingers crossed will start sending them out this week. Keep you all posted as I hear more. August 5th Update: AlexP here again. Pandas are in the warehouse getting sorted and prepared. Warehouse is currently preparing the switches for shipment, but it is a boat load of switches and orders so it might take a day or two. Hopefully see some movement before the weekend and as always, I'll keep y'all posted as I hear it. August 10th Update: Kevin Back. Runs 93469 and 93929 are now fully shipped, orders from 94384 are 95% shipped, and 94759 are 55% shipped. Those two runs should be fully shipped by tomorrow or the next day. Runs 95151, 95164 are at 0% shipped, as is the current run 95591 that is ongoing. Once the runs above are done, we should have some inventory to start shipping orders for 95151 and 95164. There's another production run that's being dispatched by the factory in China this week, and that order should arrive at our warehouse around 2 weeks from now. Assuming they ship us our complete order, that will cover all remaining orders (95151, 95164, 95591) to date of Holy Panda switches, and this product will switch from "Pre-Order" mode to "In-stock, ships in 1-5 business days" mode. When it does move to that mode, pricing will adjust back to the previous "In-Stock pricing" that was listed in 2019. August 13th Update: 94384 and 94759 are now effectively done (there's a few orders with bad addresses etc. that are being sorted out.) 95151 will be shipping Friday-Sunday, and then some of 95164 will start shipping early next week. Whatever doesn't ship from 95164 next week, will be caught by the following shipment which, I will conservatively estimate at August 28th. Most of run 95591 (which is the current run happening) will also ship around August 28th. Prices for Holy Panda switches will revert to normal pricing on August 20th. Augus 16th Update: 95151 is fully shipped, and 95164 is 64% shipped. Our warehouse is practically empty of Holy Panda Switches (a handful of extras for lost/missed shipments, etc.). There's a new inbound shipments that I don't have tracking info on but we're still expecting that to arrive in the next 1-2 weeks. That shipment will cover the remaining pending orders of 95164 and any current outstanding orders (generally those have a shipping date of August 30th). By the end of August (or early Sept), we'll likely be in a fully "in-stock" position where orders will be shipped a few days after ordering (we call this "in-store", vs. "pre-order"). Also another note for 95164 orders, they are done in FIFO but due to different inventory levels of different size switch packs, different orders may have time priority, i.e. a June 25th order of a 110 switch pack has been shipped, meanwhile a June 10th order of a 90 switch pack may not have shipped.

I never received an email with a tracking number or saying this item was shipped. I have received numerous other emails though. Monday the 17th as well as the 18th have come and gone. Still no email, tracking number, delivery or functional UI for this first batch order.

Hey everyone, we wanted to take a moment to address some of the questions and concerns that are popping up. Samples. When we were initially getting samples to reviewers, there were comments among the community that we weren't talking to the original Panda factory or that we are trying to pull a fast one. The initial samples that were sent out to @Quakemz were to show that we are indeed working with all the original manufacturers. They were sent as a proof of concept and we should've more clearly articulated that upfront to prevent confusion. Tooling. The Panda housing manufacturer has, as of this writing, already repaired the tool. A few pins on the tooling were blocked, but overall, the mould remains unchanged. We are confident that the end product will be the same as the original. The goal was always to get the production version of the switches to reviewers for further verification pending tooling repair. We expect them to arrive soon. We’ll keep everyone updated on the progress of the samples and subsequent production to make sure we’re as transparent and communicative as possible. Thanks!

YanboWuI'm kinda skeptical about your reasoning regarding the shipment of OG pandas to @Quakemz. There are plenty of OG Pandas out there. He was the creator. Are we to believe that because you sent OG Pandas, you've demonstrated cooperation with the original factory. By that logic, any OG holy panda owners are also original factory collaborators. Doesn't make any sense. This did not clarify much at all. The only good to come of all this was to get SuperVan to drop his prices. So for that I thank you.

2ndRoad805.... they sent an actual sample out 2 days before the drop ended, and it was confirmed that these switches are actual Holy Pandas. While that doesn't excuse the lie they told the community, what we are buying is the real thing.

Hey everyone! Glad to see so much excitement, and I'm excited to finally make these happen. We've been working on this behind the scenes since March, and keeping it under wraps for so long has been nerve-wracking. Thanks to Yanbo and the team for working with me on these fantastic switches. If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer them!

Mixed up your comment and the one above wanting 70. It will be cheaper to get them now than on r/mm. YOK pandas are back in stock if you want to make your own and aren’t set on the color :) Either way, good luck in your search!

Mech27I was just wondering when the next drop will be, super excited.
Hey everyone, We are super excited to have this community favorite switch on Massdrop. When I first heard about the Holy Pandas from @quakemz, I was definitely intrigued. The barrier to entry was quite high back then. You had to get the original Panda switches from the group buys or hope one of the community shops had stock. Additionally, Halo switches were scarce. When the opportunity came up in March to collaborate and actually make Holy Pandas available without having to purchase additional switches or reassembled components to make them happen, we jumped at the opportunity. It took awhile to get all the pieces into place. What we are doing is highly unconventional since different parts of this small component are actually made by different manufacturers. In the end, we will be using the original Invyr Panda switch housing tooling and, of course, the original Halo stem tooling to make these switches a reality. I’ve been pretty impressed by the tactility of the switch and will be sending samples out to some community members so they can verify that these are indeed the same switches. We’ll also have some force gauge graphs made and we will update here when that’s ready. Thank you everyone for your support and we hope everyone will be pleased with their switches.

Some notes about the estimated fulfillment timeline. It is a long due to a few considerations - 1) Chinese New Year is around the corner and this results in almost a month long manufacturing shutdown. 2) We will be repairing the injection tool to bring back the original switch housing - this does take time we've budgeted more time so this process isn't rushed. 3) This switch is an amalgamation of parts from different manufactures which is rare for production switches. Since this is the first time we are trying anything like this, we have been more conservative in our estimates.

Hey everyone, We are excited to bring back the Holy Panda switches tomorrow April 18 at 10 a.m. PT. for those that missed our initial run last year. These are additional units we've purchased with the first run so there will be limits to quantities available. First, a few things to note about the upcoming batch of switches. Production is now underway and we expect it to be complete by mid May. We expect to have production samples for community members like @quakemz to evaluate by the end of April. Second, please note that we’ve increased prices for this round of Holy Pandas. The original pricing was a sign of appreciation for those who joined last year, as an early-bird special of sorts. These type of projects need the help of those early adaptors in order to become successful and we appreciate the community’s enthusiasm with these. Finally, we currently expect the December round of Holy Panda switches to start fulfilling by the end of May. We are currently trending about 10 days longer on production due to unforeseen delays.

Hey everyone, Holy Pandas are back! There will be a few small changes, but they sound and feel more or less the same. A few things to note about this round: 1) Switches will be unlubed from the factory. 2) The switch housings will be made with new tooling. 3) The switch housings will be made of POM and are slightly lighter in color. 4) The switches come in packs of 70, 90, or 110. Smaller or larger packs will not be offered. We are aware of the rough patch that is frequently found on the slider rail of the bottom housing and we are working with the factory to see if it can be smoothed out.

Hey everyone, I received the production samples a little ago, which would be what we consider representative of final product that will be shipped to you. Both 27 and I have given it the go ahead! I am unable to differentiate, feeling wise, between these and home made holy pandas. There is a slight difference in the colour of the bottom housing, it is a lighter, more white colour than the original pandas, however this has no effect on the feeling of the switch and is purely cosmetic.

Time for a new sticky thread because the old one was getting a bit too clunky. August 17th Update About 65% of orders from run 95164, originally estimated to ship on July 31st, have shipped and you should have a tracking number. About 35% of those orders, will be shipping when the next bulk order arrives at our warehouse in 1-2 weeks. After those 35% of orders from 95164 are shipped, we'll be shipping all other orders (that have an estimated ship date of August 30th). There should be enough inventory coming in to cover everything, and also have extras for sale, but we can't guarantee that until we physically have it in our hands and have counted it. More updates once we get the inbound order. Reminder that pre-order discounts end on August 20th, expect prices to be ~25% higher. August 19th Update Latest expected arrival date of the next shipment is August 28th. Assuming we get it on that date, orders will be shipping the following week, August 31st-Sept 4th or thereabouts. Last warning/reminder, that prices will increase on Aug 20th, at 9AM. 70-pack will be $85, 90-pack $105, and 110 pack will be $125. These prices are lower than what we charged in 2018, and orders at these prices are shipping in ~2 weeks. The 70-pack is temporarily sold out (until our next restock comes). August 25th Update: The trucking company called and they're planning to deliver the pallets of switches to our warehouse on Wednesday August 26th. Once they arrive our team needs to unpack, inspect and count the contents of the shipment and then they can start fulfilling. We'll likely start to see orders shipping by the weekend, and everything should be shipped by early/midweek next week. August 25th Update #2: Seeing how all of the 70 + 90 packs are sold out of the inbound shipment (arriving 8/26), we've made the next ship date (end of September ship date) available for sale. August 26th Update: Truck arrived today at 1pm, they unloaded and started unpackaing/counting but didn't quite finish. They think they'll be done in the morning and start shipping tomorrow. Will post another update on the 27th. August 31st Update: Got lots of shipments sent out over the last few days + weekend, I think we'll be completely done shipping by Tuesday/Wednesday. Sept 1st Update: Just a bit more clarity with dates etc. The orders from run 95591 and 96260 (these all happened between June 23rd and August 25th), with an originally estimated scheduled ship date of August 31st, are now shipping and should be done in the next few days. Many people don't have run numbers anymore because we've transitioned our e-commerce system to Shopify (but the transaction dates quoted apply). Once those orders are done being shipped, we'll be shipping orders that came in on/after August 26th based on inventory availability (some of you ordered 110 packs that are in stock, others ordered 70 or 90 packs that may be in stock, or may not be available until the next shipment at the end of September). Estimated ship date for orders on August 26th or after was September 30th so you'll either be getting your switches really early, or around the estimated date. Sept 4th Update: 96% of the orders prior to August 25th have shipped as of today. We were hoping to have them all done by midweek but the warehouse is just swamped. We've called in an extra shift to work on the holiday Monday (this is voluntary, so attendance at this point is unknown), and that'll hopefully help us get caught up. I'd be surprised if the last 4% of orders aren't done over the weekend. For orders after August 25th, some of those orders have inventory and will ship next week, others are part of the next batch coming mid/end of September. We'll be plugging away at shipping those orders once the last of the August 25th group is done. Have a safe weekend. Sept 5th Update: 99.5% of orders prior to August 25th have shipped, the remaining .5% are usually bad addresses that need to be adjusted by CS or other strange exceptions. We'll be starting to ship Aug 25th-Sept 5th orders this coming week. As of today if you order the 70 or 90 pack you'll need to wait for the next shipment (end of Sept), but if you're ordering the 110 pack we have inventory and it'll ship pretty quickly (i.e. generally within 5 bus. days of your order placement). Sept 16th Update: Another shipment just arrived, we'll be unpacking and counting everything, and then shipping all outstanding (70, 90, and 110 pack) orders. Best guess is that all orders will be shipped by the end of next week (hopefully sooner!), which puts us about a week ahead of schedule.

So just curious, Fedex was unable to trace back who actually accepted the parcel? Normally they ask for name and signature. Fedex should be able to track down the employee/driver who delivered the parcel too. I find it funny that Fedex just left it at that?

DavesdayThere's no signature required for packages to be delivered to the locker rooms, just a code that's been preassigned to carriers. The first time I called Fedex they promised to interview the driver and give me a callback by the next day, but I never got that phone call. I called them 3 more times after that and every time the person I spoke to claimed that they have no information about that phone call, and every one of them asked me to contact the seller to submit claims.
