Hey everyone,
It’s been a long time since we’ve provided a production update about MT3 3277 and wanted to share details about how things have been going.
As many of you are aware, the 3277 set was launched as a second set of keycaps following up our very popular MT3 Susuwatari set. As originally planned by us and Matt3o, we would be creating a new set of keycap tools (the more common term is molds) to accommodate the different kit combinations that were offered with 3277.
For the past 3 months we’ve been working on two production processes, mold design/creation (for the keycaps) and color matching. Color matching has gone smoothly and is complete, but the mold creation process has not been. After much time, money and frustration, we don’t have 3277 keycap molds that are ready for production (some may remember that the mold creation process for MT3 Susuwatari took 2 years instead of the originally quoted 6 months).
Instead of continuing down this route that has an underdetermined end point, and instead of cancelling the project completely, we’ve decided to rekit the 3277 keycap sets and produce the keycaps using the MT3 Susuwatari molds.
The images below outline the changes that we’ll be making to 3277. NOTE: We had to make some compatibility compromises with the new kits. However, the new kits contain more than enough keys to outfit most, if not all, of the popular keyboards available right now.
Due to the magnitude of the kit changes, we will be canceling your order and refunding your method of payment. You should see the funds returned to your account in the next 3-5 business days. If you still want 3277, we’ve started a new run for the newly designed kits at early preorder pricing. This run will be available at the discounted price for 30 days, so you have plenty of time to take a look at the reworked kits and make your selections.
We know that this is a frustrating situation. As a thank you for your early support for this project, we’ve also added a $20 credit to your account for your next purchase (this can even be used towards the new 3277 kits). Your credit expires a year from today and will automatically apply at checkout on your next purchase. If you used your Susuwatari coupon with your initial 3277 purchase, we’ve added that credit back to your account as well.
Thank you so much for your support for this project.

CANCELED KITS
The Ortho Accents and Apple kits have been canceled and will not go to production.
Indeed, moar blanks! Also, this allows for R5 in ABS. After having tried R5 on PBT, I'm no longer buying ABS sets unless they include R5 blanks like 3277 did in the Ergodox set.
Drop sent out an email today with an update they don't appear to have posted here. This is what they had to say:
"Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out to let you know that the Drop + Matt3o MT3 3277 Keycaps are tracking behind and are now expected to ship in late October.
If you decide you’d rather not wait the additional time, this run is open for cancellations via your Transactions page (drop.com/transactions).
Thanks so much for your patience."
Supposedly the only thing left is matching colors, as they'll be using PBT molds for PBT caps. But they also say they'll provide color matches updates as they progress further (and there hasn't been any yet), which to me sounds like it's going be a lengthy process. That instead of something along the lines of "it should take no more than a week or two".

DoctorMacheteYeah, I know GMK Serenity has been delayed for ABS color-matching, and that's taken months. I get the sense color-matching is a pretty tedious process that takes a while.
Because a cashgrab company is cashgrab. They preferred launching Marvel stuff because 3277 have been paid for already I guess... Good lesson for me, now I understand the hate. Not to mention red samurai were supposed to ship last september, this time they pull this shit for their own keycaps
pawloI would assume it's related to all of the ubiquitous production delays...if it weren't for the marvel sets being released without delay.
Combined with the large number of failing plancks in the latest batch, I think I'm done with Drop, too.
Mine still says August 16th. I reached out to support and they said the latest info is it will ship in September. Perhaps you are in the current batch and not the previous one like me.
PaleBoyWeird. I put my order in well before the July 18th cut-off date.
You know, a lot of this confusion could be solved if they stopped maintaining radio silence. :/
I wonder if the latest delay (notified via e-mail on 8/5/2021) to the end of September has anything to do with Captain America and Black Panther MT3 sets suddenly becoming available. After making the decision to only use the MT3 Susuwatari molds, there shouldn't have been any more delays for the 3277's since you claimed back in May that the color matching was complete. This is disappointing Drop. Sounds like a money-grab on your part.
It would be nice to see an expansion to the novelty set. I personally like the set, but the ship date is so far in the future it's a no go for what I want it for.
After obviously delaying it further to produce some Marvel sets, since you already got our money, I really wish someone else soon jumps in and creates a profile, which kicks you out of the game finally. Since every product I bought from you got delayed by a few months you're really terrible at logistics or you just don't give a fuck about your customers. Either way not the best reputation.
schwarzgrauI cancelled my order with them. Lack of product updates. They sent one email over a month ago and still can't provide estimated ship dates. Taking my money elsewhere for this.
GrillMasterDI opened a support ticket about this. Support couldn't provide any update on the Ergodox kit.

The_DaveThey've let the base go out of stock and stay that way, whereas they've always restocked the other Susuwatari recolor sets. I wonder if they'll quietly kill this off by letting the remaining child kits run out, and then resurrect it in their new MT2 profile. It sounds like that uses a different blend of plastics, which might solve the problems they were having with their ABS MT3 blanks failing.
