Would like to see a graph-comparison with other sets recently run here... so one could determin the trends better ;)

I agree with you, that would be interesting. So I made some quick graphs based on the Massdrop info I have. (I don't have complete data for some drops.)
I decided that comparing the number of Base* kits sold would be the best way to see the popularity of each drop. Although not perfect, it's arguably the best estimate of how many keyboards will use the set. Using the Total number of kits in each set is a more apples-to-oranges comparison, because of the huge variations in the number of Total kits set-to-set. (But I also graphed Totals for reference.)
Summary of kits for each set's drop: MiTo GMK Laser: 9 Total, 3 Base. MiTo DSA Legacy: 33 Total, 3 Base. With proxy. Oblotzky SA Oblivion: 30 Total, 2 Base. With proxy. MiTo Godspeed: 30 Total, 3 Base. Probably w/o proxy. Zambumon GMK Nautilus: 7 Total, 1 Base. Without proxy. T0mb3ry SA Carbon: 32 Total, 3 Base. MiTo XDA Canvas: 27 Total, 3 Base.

*Edited 11/12. I changed "Alphas" to "Base" to be more clear. None of the numbers have changed. 11/13: Updated Laser numbers.

Oh, and I don't know the total number of days that SA Carbon or XDA Canvas ran for, because I don't have all the data. So I guessed 21 days.

Takeaway from the graphs - we love alphas!

Makes sense, since that is the main purpose of keyboards.

to put the numbers in perspective, 01 GMK base kit is easily equivalent to 04 SP kits. and the way MD order counters work is also janky AF, so there's that :)

"01 GMK base kit is easily equivalent to 04 SP kits" I don't get what you mean. Can you explain a bit? For example, what is 01 & 04 referring to?
Regarding "the way MD order counters work is also janky AF" No question that MD's "purchased" numbers on their description pages are calculated a bit oddly. But I only used the kit-by-kit order numbers from Massdrop's spreadsheets to make those two graphs. I think the kit-by-kit spreadsheet numbers for alphas are relatively apples-to-apples between drops.
Even then, some alpha kits are more extensive than those of other drops. Laser, for example, can fully cover a standard 100% - ISO or ANSI - and then some. Whereas for many other drops, the alpha kits don't have numpad, modifiers, or function keys; those are in other kits. So for sure the TOTAL order numbers are NOT apples-to-apples between drops.

Most GMK 'base' kit covers a full size keyboard + additional modifiers for other popular layouts. SP keysets are usually split into alphas (just the 37 keys), modifiers (either 60% or TKL), numpad and tsangan/pro modifier to cover the same amount of layout. This is where my 1 - 4 ratio comes from.
And yes, your conclusions are correct, the alpha kit graph is a better comparison when plotting both GMK & SP sets on the same graph, whereas to total kits number are skewed towards SP sets given how they are structured.
The issue I have with MD 'purchased' numbers is that they are front-and-center, you go to a drop page, you see that number first. The details breakdown sheet is removed once a drop is over so normal people / new users won't see it unless they dive into the discussion and look up graphs from people like you. Even I missed the full breakdown of XDA Canvas as MD didn't update it to the front page and now I can't be bothered to scrawl through screens of discussion comments to find out if Yanbo actually posted the final numbers or not.

Thanks for the clarification, I get what you meant now. The leading zeros thru me off.
I totally agree with you about MD's "purchased" numbers, but that is just their normal method. It works well for most drops, just not so much keycap drops which have many options.
Regarding "The details breakdown sheet is removed once a drop is over" I just checked all the description pages for all the drops on these two comparison graphs. The final MD spreadsheets are all still there in the normal location.

I guess those spreadsheets are not really 'final' after all. For Nautilus: spreadsheet 1899 vs your graph 2243 vs Zambumon 2450 https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-mito-gmk-laser-custom-keycap-set/talk/1878004
And you can add GMK Carbon number in your graph too, it's 1952 base and 3863 all kits

Yes, in the past Massdrop often didn't update their spreadsheet with the final numbers including proxy orders.
As I said above: " Zambumon GMK Nautilus: 7 Total, 1 Base. With est. proxy. " Looks like Zambumon has newer numbers than I could find at the time here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/6p08i9/last_day_to_order_nautilus_novelties_are_close_to/
I just asked him if he could share his final numbers.
