I love this cable. The only issue I have with the personally is that it does fit a little bit loosely into a USB-C slide, and it is not as snug as even my standard USB-C cables. But still plugs in and I don’t have any connection issues.
I had some Drop cash to spend so I decided to replace my USB-C cable. So what do we get here? Well… yeah, just a cable, so there’s not much to say about it, but…
Pros:
The Red color is really nice. It has an ever so slight amount of Orange to it.
Great amount of length to the cord.
USB-C tip is fairly long, so it fit in some devices that had some awkward entries.
The clasping mechanism, while I have no idea what it’s for, does extend the cable and makes a nice clickity sound.
Cons:
It’s quite expensive for a USB-C cable.
I don’t understand the need for the connector— I wish it was a magnetic clasp for break away, in case you use this cable with something other than a keyboard.
Wish it came with another endpoint type, like a USB-C or that really old circular one (instead of just the normal USB)
Arbitrary:
its not a necessary piece, but neither are mechanical keyboards, mats, those 2 sets of headphones, that boom mic, etc.; 😏 this is definitely a stylistic purchase and for the most part, it’s nice.
Is it worth $40? Probably not.
What about $30? meh, I’d really would need to be making a stylistic choice (which I was).
And $20? for sure, reasonable at this price, but you can probably get a decent braided cord for $10.
Would you recommend? Yes and No. (I marked yes) Yes, because if you have the money, it’s a fine luxury item, a kin to a nice shirt from a luxury brand. No, because it’s over priced and doesn’t provide anything more special but looks, like a shirt from a luxury brand.
edit: seems like the connector is swapping end points lol. So now I know.
Bought this as an add on, so it was fairly reasonably priced. Solidly built and looks nice, however its just a USB cable that classes up the joint. If it really fits your setup or if you just like this stuff like I do why not, otherwise I'd say use what you already have.
