adds significant heft to the keyboard (in a good way), highly recommend despite the price as it adds a premium feel that isn't accomplished elsewhere with upgrades
It substantially adds a heft to the keyboard that makes it almost immovable, especially when typing. Definitely recommend to anyone that wants to change the look, feel, and sound of their Sense75. Looks especially good on the Nightfall version.
Nice and heavy, and should give your board that premium feel.
I have not messed around with installing it to hear acoustics yet, but I wouldn't have expected them to change anyway (especially if you're using all the foam). This is about heft!
It’s nice for the weight but that’s about it. Given how much it’s gonna cost you in total buying this, i say go for a monsgeek m1w which is a heavier board out of the box, whith wireless connectivity ready or better off buying a mode envoy in base configuration.
It's exactly what you see, a piece of brass that you can screw into your case.
For something that you'll never see (since it's on the bottom of your keyboard), it looks fantastic-- this is the way that the Sense 75 was meant to look. I won't include a picture because the screenshots/other pics in other reviews do a sufficient job.
The stock plate weighs 329g on my kitchen scale. The brass one weighs 978g, putting it at just about 3x the weight. It definitely gives the keyboard feel more premium. The rubber feet on the board do a good job so I won't say that this weight is the make-or-break thing that will keep your board from moving around, but it definitely adds heft.
As for the sound-- it didn't make a huge difference for me, but that's because I use both pieces of included foam on the bottom case. I did take the foam out for the sake of this review, and did an A/B test with the stock aluminum weight. The brass makes the keys sound clackier/poppier, in a good way. It's not like it reduces thock, it just kind of....compresses and tightens up the sound if that makes sense? When I put the foam back into the case, it sounded more or less the same as with the stock weight.
4 stars only because of the price, but maybe that's not fair to say in a hobby where we'll pay upwards of $200 for 114 pieces of plastic :) if you're on the fence about this weight, I would say go for it.
Almost a kilo of brass, because why not?
After adding one of these, you won't be able to consider the aluminum "weight" as anything more than a placeholder. Not that you NEED this much weight in your keyboard in the first place. It will feel cool and "premium" nonetheless.
Drop™️ a keyboard with this installed on your foot, and you're likely to break a toe (and the keyboard) in one go, so maybe avoid doing that.
I'm sure it changes the acoustics and/or dampens the sound to some extent, but I wouldn't get too invested in any practical reasons for the purchase. If you already think the idea is cool, I'll say that it's likely going to make you smile once you feel it. That's why you should buy it.
Now I'm excited for the brass plate I have on-order, and I just got the knob. When all is said and done, it'll make for a cool cohesive build, from front to back.
My only gripe with the Sense75 has been that as well-built and solid as it feels "out of the box", it just didn't seem to pack the weight I expected. Well, until I installed the brass weight that is. It makes an insane difference and the keyboard feels pretty much spot on now hitting 4.77lbs in my case. Perfect.
