Before the official review starts, here is a link to all the picture that I took of the knife: https://photos.app.goo.gl/L4Udsvt7cxjLRXJw5

Aesthetics: I think it is classy and subtle. It definitely looks less menacing than some of my other knives. The bronze hardware is a nice touch. In terms of design, all my other knives have straight clips. The curved clip on the Lynx fits the overall look of the knife, but it’s just something different/new to me.
search

Ergonomics: I wish that the G10 scales were filleted near the blade also. It is filleted everyone on the scale besides that spot. This makes the corner by the blade awkward when trying to use the finger choil. Other than that, it feels nice in the hand and sits well in the pocket.  Disassembly: One of the most important parts, who owns a knife and doesn’t take it apart for maintenance. Hold on to your horses, because this might be long winded.  The knife uses T6 and T8 hardware. I was not able to get the pocket clip off because the screw had a ton of Loctite on it. Since I wasn’t able to get the pocket clip off, I was not able to remove scale on that side. The back spacer is held in place with 4 countersink screws. This sample seems to be missing one of those screws.  The pivot assembly for the Lynx can be or has the potential of being cumbersome. The assembly has a T8 screw and washer on one side, and a Drop logo on the other. All the holes are circular, and the part that the blade rotates about is cylindrical. For me, there was a decent amount of Loctite holding the pivot assembly together. This means that the entire pivot assembly was rotating together when I was trying to disassemble it. And you can’t grab the other side of the assembly, to stop it from rotating, because it only has the Drop logo on that face.
search
Pictured above is pivot assembly with the T8 screw and washer removed. The cylinder in this picture is the part that the blade rotates about (the blade, bearings, and washers that slide over it are not pictured). The outside face is the Drop logo hardware. I think these two pieces can be separated, but I don’t want to damage them with Vise grips.  I don’t this to become an entire review or discussion about pivot assemblies, but there are design choices that can prevent this unwanted spinning from happening.  Ending Notes: The blade is sharp. The blade centering is good. There was some G10 residue in one of the scales but it was easy to clean out, barely any force was required to remove it. Found some things that made this knife tick. There is a track milled into the blade for the detent to follow. Coupled with the caged bearings, this makes deployment super smooth and satisfying.  Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

erickongIf this isn't one of the most beautiful knives Drop has sold, let alone made.. I'm really surprised the pivot doesn't have a D shaped shaft to hold it in place for tightening/loosening. Typically, either both sides have hardware you can insert some form of driver bit, or the shaft is D shaped. I'm not sure how important this detail is to me, but any knife that is enjoyed enough to actually see use is going to eventually need maintenance and that just seems like a huge hindrance. Guess we'll see a Drop 'D' shaped driver bit for this pivot in an upcoming drop. :D

boot2skullYeah, the pivot assembly gripe dropped my review from a 5 to a 4. I specifically made sure to strip this thing down before giving my 2 cents because tools need maintenance. And maintenance typically involves disassembly

Simply beautyful & extremely functional
I love this thing. It's a great combination of form & function. Looks classy enough to take to church while still looking blue collar. No worrying about scaring anyone if you need to pop it out (sheeple friendly non-tatical design) and it's a great slicer. It should be extremely low maintenance as well. Ceramic ball bearins don't need to be oiled and judging by how well it responded to a strop it should be mostly fine with just bringing the edge back on that and it doesn't feel like it'll be a pain to actually sharpen when that time comes. In the info it says that this knife something like 20 thousands behind the edge, I would put mine more at 15. Very nice job on the hollow grind getting it to that despite the slightly thicker than average stock. Given the stock thickness I have no worries about something happening to the blade or tip on this during normal use, unlike some other thin behind the edge knives I own. I appreciate that there isn't a ton of writing on the blade and the Ochs logo looks classy. I really like how the tang wraps around the stop pin. Very nice touch. It came fairly sharp, but not amazingly so. I'm very picky about my edges and I was good to go after a couple of passes on my strop. The milling on the g10 feels a little sharp on the peaks, but it's not anything that bothered my hand while using. It wound up just adding to the grip while in use. The edges are very well rounded other than at the top (where you would wrap your finger around to use the forward choil). At first I was slightly worried that spot would be uncomfortable, but had no problems with it while in use. If you're fine with the feel of typical flatish g10 half and half choils you'll be fine with this too. The action on it is done very well, albeit a slightly strong detent, but nothing crazy and I could still open it with the studs or flipper right out of the box. The upside of this is that I literally can not get the blade to not fully deploy with the flipper tab even while trying to do so. The tab itself is well done, good amount of grip with the 3 little jimps. Thumb studs are slightly more pointy than I generally like, but even if I flat my thumb and roll it out it's not painful or anything. The lock face is well carbidized so there is no lockstick what so ever. I would have liked to have seen a slight cutout for acess to the liner to disengage the lock, but it's not a big deal. I'm still able to use the knife wearing thinish gloves by sort of rolling the side of my finger into the gap between the liners. I don't have any very thick gloves so I can't say as far as that goes. Without using the choil I find the grip length to be pretty similar to a mini-grip. The Lynx might have a smidge more length, and the Lynx is thicker so it's more hand filling. I wear L-XL gloves and I can still fit all my fingers on it. The choil is well done, plenty of space for my index finger while pulling it back at a 45 degree angle. It's not quite big enough to do a hammer grip while using the choil for me, but I never hold my knives like that anyways. The clip is different from what I'm used to, but it has good ramp, doesn't cause a hot spot, functional (no worries about the knife clipping loose), and the lines following the g10 milling is aesthetically pleasing so I can't complain. The ano on the hardware on mine is well within what I would expect from a production knife. I would say preview picture #2 is the most accurate in most lighting situations, but it's certainly a bronze, and obviously the lighting makes a bit of difference on how it's going to look. Solid "A" rating.

DontBotherNoneI have the CF/Purple version, and this knife was what I was expecting out of a Reate-made knife. I agree with everything said above, particularly that the fluting on the scales is a little "sharp", but not enough to be bothersome. I still would prefer the texture to be a little less aggressive. I also would have preferred a smooth backspacer that sits flush with the scales, but it stands a little proud so that the jimping that is on the tip of the backspacer can be felt (although it's there for cosmetics; functionally, it's not needed at all). The fit and finish of this knife truly is top notch. There's absolutely no gap or unevenness where the liners meet the scales (other than, of course, the liner lock); it's as if it were carved out of a single block of material. The anodizing is very even, and the Moku-Ti clip and pivot are a nice touch, but obviously you pay for it. (The little "Drop" logo on the pivot even is perfectly aligned out of the box, although I do wish it weren't a free-spinning pivot.) The action is amazing, probably helped by the thicker blade stock and ceramic bearings (and what appears to be a pretty liberal application of oil in the pivot area). It's really the best I've experienced out of the box. All that said, this definitely is more of a little tank knife than a svelte flipper. It feels incredibly solid, but it also feels heavy for its size. Skeletonized liners could have lightened the knife, but maybe they chose not to because of cost, or because it would have thrown off the balance. $250 is quite a lot to pay for a knife, particularly as newer brands out of Asia have really brought tremendous value at much lower price points. But I actually think $250 is a bargain with this knife. It matches or exceeds any knife I own, including many that are much more expensive. If you missed this drop, and the size/design work for you, I'd get it when they (hopefully) re-release it.

DontBotherNoneLooks like there's some inconsistency with the level of bronze ano on these knives. Mine probably has less than half the level of bronze. Loving the knife though, and looking forward to using it more. I love the detent on this knife, and wish all flippers were this good.

Ok, just got this in the mail today (1-12-20). I was so excited to finally get it! I’m sure many of you are saying the same thing right about now! I opted for the killer blue slate G10. Gorgeous in person! I will say this, the golden bronze look of the originals is just plain missing. This is a dark brown gunmetal bronze. Action is atomic! It springs open like an assisted blade. I own numerous custom knives and none of them fire as hard and fast as this bad boy. That said, I can launch it with the flipper with ease and thumb sort of. Maybe 50/50 success due to the tight detent. I just cannot get it to even open with reverse side middle finger flick. Not even close. Maybe the action will loosen up a bit with time but as of right now it’s basically a flipper only despite the thumb/middle finger stud. blade is hollow ground and as sharp as I require for a high end blade. Awesome curve, perfect edc blade. Nice choil and perfect balance in any hand position. There are no issues with the build at all. No loose screws, or locktite needed. if you were in on this drop and haven’t received yours yet, rest assured, you have a masterpiece on the way! Update: 1-21-2020 I've owned the Lynx for a few weeks now. The detent has loosened up enough that I can reliably open with the thumb stud about 90% of the time. I'm sure it'll only get better. I still can't flip it with my middle finger from the opposite side at all. Absolutely excellent EDC. Best EDC I've ever owned.

RadiationThanks for the review, agree 100% with your review and had the exact same thoughts including where is the golden bronze color and why is it so hard to flip open with the thumb stud but the flipper tab fires it right open. The action is definitely very nice and built well, just wish it looked more like the studio pictures.

RadiationNot sure why my review won't post. Mine looks exactly like yours. Kind of disappointed with the color, since the bronze and blue in the pictures looks so great. Otherwise, I'm very pleased and agree with your review. Excellent fit and finish and great action on this flipper!

Top notch.
Action, centering, fit and finish are excellent. Blue Moku-Ti has less impact than I thought it would but I'm still glad I got it.

Excellent little knife
Finish overall is fantastic. Detent is stronger than I thought it would be but it's great for quick operation. Materials are all gorgeous. G10 is amazing. Clip is beautiful but a little stiff.

Another one from Eric Ochs
Love my Orca and this Lynx. Flipping action is actually better out of the box, snappy opening. Flipper works great, thumb-stub is stiff with this retention. Surprisingly left hand open is good with this handle design.

Love it.
I like knives with big bellies and this one is exactly that. Fits in my hand well. Flips great and lock up is more like a frame lock than liner. Took forever to get here, but after carrying for a few days I think it was worth the wait.

Looks bronze to me
Excellent knife. Action was a little stiff for a couple of days, but now it's starting to break in nicely. It's a bit chunky, but the hollow grind makes it very slicey. Fit and finish are great, and the blade is perfectly centered. As for the color, mine definitely has bronze liners, studs, and hardware. All you have to do is contrast them to the pocket clip, which is gray, just like in the pictures.

Slick knife
Knife is solid in the hand and well put together. Fit and finish are excellent. Comfortable to hold and easily deployed using the flipper tab or the studs. Action is smooth and feels solid. Recently picked up the Falcon and this is a much nicer knife for the price.

Knife is great but the shipping sucks!
First off let me say......I love this knife! It is sized about the same as a Mini Griptilian or Ace Biblio. The action is great from both flipper or studs. The texturing of the carbon fiber gives you a solid feel to your grip. I like it better than the Och's Orca. Currently, it is one of my favorite knives and I have been anxiously awaiting it's delivery. Which is my only gripe about the purchase. This pathetic new shipping from China is torturous! If I want to wait a month to get something from China I'll shop Ebay! Tracking is completely unreliable. Days go by with no new info. My package when it finally got to New York showed for days that it was going into customs and then days going out of customs then magically showed up as being in my town ready for delivery. Of course that didn't happen! They waited until the next day to attempt delivery which sadly was a day I was attending a funeral. So I had to wait three more days (past MLK day) to get it. Now I know the last part isn't Drop's fault, but it was the perfect cap to this lousy experience! Also, Drop used to ship in boxes which protected the contents. Now they are coming in thin plastic shipping bags which offer no protection. The Laconico Keen which preceded this knife from China had the box smashed to the point of tearing the box. This one survived in decent shape. This is again a pathetic decline in their service! I hope they're saving enough money to compensate for the damage to their reputation. Again, I love this knife and the others I've bought from them but the shipping is making me reconsider where I make my knife purchases. I hope they get their act together!
