I JUST got the HDs on amz for $200 lol smh! Oh well, I still saved $50.
After searching for budget 2.0/2.1 systems to replace my monitor speakers, I decided to spend an extra $ on something else.
My odd perspective is this; the monitor speakers didn't suck, but they are not loud. This manifests itself as a problem when you need a semblance of bass at a 'low' volume setting. However, I got used to how well I could hear voices of people in video on the monitor speakers, and MOST articles I read about potential budget speakers would have some caveat about shoddy output at certain frequencies.
I decided to-hell-with-that, and found these. I got the HDs for the extra connectivity if/when I want/need it.
They're large for a pc setup, and small for a living room setup, but can perform admirably in both settings. You decide if that's a good or bad thing. I tend to lean towards good, because they're versatile and you can always strap a woofer to it.
That's my personal take, and I left out sound quality subjectivity because it's... subjective. I literally have no complaints except for the laughable remote, but it works so...
