i really wanted to join this.... until i saw 1.2amps, that isn't enough to charge a tablet, or efficiently charge a smart phone... it's the same reason i don't buy most car chargers... should have been 2.1A+

JasrilMost modern phones are designed to be charged at 1A/5V through a USB charger), including iPhones*. There's usually no harm in using a charger that is capable of providing more current than a device is designed to be charged at, but there's usually no benefit either, because the device simply won't draw more current than it was designed to draw. Except when the device is poorly designed and will draw all current available, the device will generally charge faster, but at the expense of battery life (this is why manufacturers always insist on using the bundled charger). Or, you just might blow the freaking battery to smithereens. This actually happened to me once with a very small cheapo portable phone speaker. I didn't pay attention to my car chargers output current, and consequently the speaker's battery overheated and melted not only itself, but the whole speaker and burned a hole to the passenger seat. I can tell you the smoke was plenty and thick. I was lucky I wasn't on the freeway.
Providing less current than the device requires is totally harmless, but will lead to longer charging times, or no charging at all. At 1,2A this charger will charge all phones quickly and safely and most if not all tablets, though at a slower pace. Shutting the device off will naturally speed things up.

If I was a hiker (and a phone addict), I'd definitely want this product.

JasrilI try and only charge at 1.2 amps since it is better for the life of your battery. I only do 2.1+ if I am short on time and dont have a spare battery. But for an item like this I agree it should be 2.1 amp.

JasrilHave to agree with you on this definitely. It's one of the tech that is not a high demand for. If it's not something like 2.1A+, that means it's not at a Quality I can expect to work well.
Maybe years from now everyone will jump onto the solar band wagon but we can only wait and see...
