Are these pens non refillable? If they aren't, how long can I expect them to last?

GaspaiderThese take the PR refills described at the link below. They claim a writing distance of 12,000 feet or about 2.25 miles. There was some study done in the UK that showed typical ballpoint pens last on average 3,000 feet, with the longest they tested achieving 6,500 feet. Also, the thixtropic ink shouldn't dry out like a normal ballpoint may if left in a drawer.

I've always been amazed by the longevity of the space pen refills. My preference goes to the Fine point versions, which in theory should last even longer... perhaps?

Thanks for the detailed answer! That sure is a crazy writing distance. Will definitely consider it.
