These are absolutely INCREDIBLE for FPS gaming. Important details in sound are easily noticed, such as footsteps. Fostex should make a gaming headset out of these. The V-Moda BoomPro works fine with these, together, a great ~$100 headset option if the sound signature of gaming headsets aren't your thing.

JJDeviloperI've been doing research on these as I'm constantly trying to find a set of (affordable) headphones that are as good as the ath ad700x for gaming, but not as fugly (I stream and people like to make fun of my cans :P....also, I'm just a headphone hoarder). From what Ive been seeing, the sound stage isn't so great on these TR70's. Have you used the ATHAD700's or anything comparable that you can shed some comparative insight on? To me, this is how I have ranked the headphones I've owned for gaming: 1- Audio Technica ATHAD700X 2- Audio Technica ATHAD500 3- AKG K7XX 4- Beyer Dynamic DT990 I would give these a shot if they were at least above the DT990's. To my ears the DT900's were pretty useless for FPS.

eneroI've used all of those. For competitive gaming these are better. Sacrificing precision, treble, and sound signature for sound stage is not good for competition. Sound stage is good, but more appreciated for fun gaming, it gives you too much information and not enough of the information you want. These are one of my top picks for competitive gaming, for closed back, M50x, you can also try DT880. If you want better enjoyment or music headphones, invest in the Focal Elex.

JJDeviloperThanks for the info! I'm not big on closed for gaming, I have a pair of m50x's laying around somewhere, but dont use them much now that I work from home. Loved them for the office. I like the DT880's but since none of the Beyer's fit my head right, I had to get rid of them (as well as the 990's). I love my 770X's for gaming, the only way I can describe them is "Haunting". Playing creepy games with them make me want to poop my pants! Thats really what I look for when picking headphones. On your word, I might have to give them a try. If nothing else, I LOVE opening a fresh box of headphones, that alone might be worth the $65 clams :D

JJDeviloperHey just an update, Ive been using these for the past week and Im very happy to say that their pretty awesome! Ive been swapping between my ATHAD700X's and these and Im really hard pressed to tell the difference with sound. My only gripe about these are the ear pads and the lack of movement in the ear cups. They dont completely cover my ears in the back. They just wont move that way. I guess Im going to have to get better pads for them and hope that that will fix the problem. Thanks again for the recommendation!
