Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

As far as portability goes, these are somewhat large cans with a long cable and they do not isolate well, but they are light and comfortable. If it doesn't bother you to travel with them, go for it.
Enjoy!
Edit: I'm also in a similar predicament, considering getting in on this drop, even though I already have the original. Might just give in and do it in the end. Btw, if possible, you should consider getting the TH-X00 (either version) modded with removable cables, as I did. Really makes it a lot more convenient, especially if you'll be switching setups
What makes you consider having both? I can't say i'm anything but a novice, which is fairly obvious, however I think the sonic difference ought to be quite negligible given the woods are such a small part of their make up. From my own experience with woods, but not headphones, mahogany ages beautifully with deep reds and lush browns, the grains are far more interesting, and it can even change colour depending on the direction of light. Purple Heart ages poorly, and the grain is quite mediocre by comparison, but it does have that colour.
I just wish they had done more precise and detailed measurements between them, if this were furniture i would have no trouble choosing mahogany, but choosing between products with a shorter shelf life is more challenging. Finding people to do mods in the UK is daunting. I have no idea where I would start, forums don't appear to have any recommendations.
As for the mods, I'm based in Asia, and it's similarly a challenge here as well. What I do is have it shipped from MD directly to my preferred modder in the States (Peterek), and have him ship it back to me once it's ready. Plus that way, returns in the minuscule chance of any defects are also easier, with a faster turnaround. I mentioned details in one of my earlier posts here as well, if you'd like to go this route.
Edit: Here's a few pics of the Fostex models together, from a recent event I attended in Singapore. The TH-900 really looks even better in person, and also a side-by-side with the upcoming TH-610 (no fixed retail price yet, but estimated to be in the $600+ range)
The only caveat is it was after all show floor conditions, so subtle differences might be lost in the background noise. But I was very happy with it, sounded a great pair of headphones. I have no experience with the TH-600 though, would be interesting to know what people who owned one think of it.
That's why I standardise all my detachable cables to Audeze style connectors, and mod/get adaptors for those which don't support it. That way just 1 fancy upgrade cable, and peace in the world :p
Edit: I went back and checked the models again, the E12 is just an amp, it's the E17 and E18 (which I used to own) that are also DACs.
I can tell you the Mojo (and the Hugo I currently use) are better DACs than the E18, and are also able to drive full size headphones with no problem. What are you using to play the music files? A phone, or dedicated DAP?
