Hello everyone,
We understand that there are some concerns about the new batch of Gem Artisan Keycaps. We have decided to bring back this drop because there were more than 600 requests on site. I have spoken to our vendor as of this morning; both vendor and creator, Gen.S have been aware of the stem cracking issue and is working on replacements for those that were affected by the last drop. The vendor has mentioned that they will test each keycap to reassure product quality. Hope this helps!

XiKThanks for the feedback. As this will be my first drop I hope it goes well!
XiKSo does this mean there was a problem in production, or that the quality of the material is just bad and it won't last for a very long time?

Unknown_Impedance. I've had 2 for nearly a year plus the MD first drop from 8 months ago. On my arrow cluster. Used daily. And yet they are in perfect working condition. I do not know what is wrong with the last batch. Wish Gen.S would speak on the subject and let us know what it was that changed.
BrainFlushYeah, that generally seems to be the issues with companies... They don't communicate very well.
For comparison I have a 10 year old keyboard with ABS keys, that I've removed for cleaning several times. Would you be confident these keys would hold up like ABS?

Unknown_ImpedanceThey are not PBT or ABS as we both know. But the ones I have are very solid and thick feeling. (no idea the material) Will it last over the years in the wear-down department? I honestly don't know. And yet having it on my arrow cluster has shown no signs of wear. Plus, no one I know of has posted any images showing these caps from the original first drops as being worn-down. So having said that. Go here and look for a seller of the original caps https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/new/ if you want one that's not going to break. That's the best I can offer.
BrainFlushSure, I just think it's fair to expect them to work as good as at least the cheapest budget keyboards out there. Even those lasts for years and years.

Unknown_ImpedanceThey did work. Still do. Just not the last batch. They messed up QC/QA. Simple. As to basic caps on any old keyboard always working, while that's true, OEM caps (generally) still suck, working or not. But I hear you.
BrainFlushThe question is though, is this a part of a weakness in the technology and material, or was it just an exception? And the key caps being solid and durable? We don't know that. Any anecdotal evidence won't answer that.
And this is why I am still questioning it and not at all considering it, you know... ;)

Unknown_Impedance$20 something for nearly a year's worth of use. (Just being simple with the anecdotal evidence) ie (my key caps rock this to this day) My entertainment budget consisting of memories aka places to see, movies, food and so on is far more financially prohibitive than one key cap lasting a year. By no means am I excusing bad caps breaking upon insertion. You dig it?
TLDR: Don't buy them if you are concerned. I don't blame you. But my caps are great. That's all.
