This bag passes the certified "One-Year-Daily-Commute-&-10-Hour-Workday-throughout-Manhattan" Test, and looks, feels, and smells even better after it's year of use and care.
The hardware is exceptionally finished and fitted at this price point, as are the overbuilt handles and strap. Fitting a 15" laptop in this thing is a literal stretch, but for anything and everything smaller, highly recommended.
The leather is very attractive, far beyond what the price point warrants. It did smell a bit over-tanned, but the smell did go away. This is not a rugged, go-anywhere type of a bag. The metal parts are a bit delicate, and the bag probably couldn’t carry a lot. But it is perfect for carrying a small laptop or a large iPad - and that is exactly what my wife does with it (she promptly expropriated it as soon as it arrived).
It is a great case, almost perfect in size, and really perfect in function.
We opted for the green bag, and I wish I could use it, but it so happened, that my wife saw it when it arrived, and immediately fell in love with it, so now - It's my wife's work briefcase...
The bag, as I just received it, looks extremely nice. Very nice color, the smell is of real leather, and feels sturdy enough. Also, it is bigger / has more room than I expected, which is great. I just pulled it out of the box, so I can't tell how it will age, but it feels a lot more expensive than it was. I hope it does last.
It's fairly nice. Very similar to what you would buy from the leather shops in Venice or Florence. I saw many just like this and I have a couple of leather bags from Venice so I can compare to those. The price of the Italia In Progress bags on Massdrop is about what you would pay in those shops in Italy.
The leather of the Guilio is not as soft as the two I got in Italy. It still, however, looks nice and seems durable enough.

The insides are more detailed and professional than the other bags I have which don't have any lining really.

It fits my laptop perfectly but not much else.
For reference here are the bags I got in Italy which I think Italia In Progress are trying to internationalize with their various models:

I've had these for a little over a year now so you can see that they age pretty well and have decent durability.
shanewhkIs the price not expensive for “genuine” leather vs full grain or even top grain ?
also wouldn’t that also explain why this leather is stiffer well that and the extra lining?
JtruCould be. I'm not a leather expert.
Since my previous review and after turning this in to an every day laptop bag the dye in the handle has faded and there are some other issues to the exterior that I've never had with the bags I got in Italy. There are some random bumps that I'm not sure how they got there.
Here's some pics for reference.
