What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

Consider GMK and SP keycaps collectors items and you might understand why people still buy them. Or get a set yourself ... Maybe people will start taking your seriously when you know what you're talking about.
There are mechanical keyboards starting around sixty dollars or so, some Chinese brands that have been offered here or in their sites, you can get a Poker under one hundred and twenty of course, they do come with a basic set of key caps that may be enough for some; if you are happy with those, there is no need for you to be concern about this set, move forward and get what you prefer. It is your money, it is your call.
Some of us prefer custom made keyboards that do not come with a key set, and we want to get the best experience out of them, so we consider a set like this and some others with even higher prices, again, it is our money, it is our call. You may criticize people buying this set all that you want, it only reveals that you do not understand the reasons why a set like this could be this pricey, which is OK, but that does not change the fact of its value for other people.
Typed on my KC60 with Tai Hao Doubleshot and aluminum case. Yes, even those of us wanting a custom experience may decide that this price is pretty ridiculous.
I say this and I have reserved a set.....
As a person who plans on using purchased keycaps like its nobody's business, at this price it should have at least two of the following qualities: custom profile, made of exotic materials that does not shine with use, or handmade. But these keys are meant to appeal to the retro and/or the financially well off crowds. While I'm of the former group, the practical side of me can't justify this kind of money as I have many other financial obligations more important than these. I'd pay 1/2 the cost at most if these keys are made of PBT.
You are also comparing cheap, thin ABS that is mass produced to high quality, thick ABS that is a custom order.
Since we've rolled over to a new page, and apparently need to keep having this conversation: daily reminder that no one gives a shit what you aren't buying. If your mind boggles at the price, you aren't the target audience! So scram, kids.
Because a handful got some damaged samples doesn't make it "everyone" getting the same dodgy caps.
Again, GMK key-caps are way better than the cheapo Chinese made guff which is appropriately priced, yet take a close look at their so-called quality.
The Chinese have very cheap parts because they pay their workers much lower wages plus where they live, further ensures a much lower standard of living.
When any moron here on MassDrop start suggesting that ALL companies start producing lower priced goods to please their penny-pinching behaviour, I say go and work in those lower priced countries that pay their workers next to nothing, then report here how brilliant it is to be in their shoes, sunshine.
You seem to have "a beef" with GMK, do you own any yourself sir?
I have 9 sets from GMK & they are all perfect - including TA.
