Then the question becomes...how good is the DAC? Same chip as the $99 Slim (really the comparable would be the $199 Slim HD) but also the one in the uber expensive Lindemann. So is this the bare bones desktop giant killer suggested in the description and not so critical impressions or just a respectable competitor in the $500 portable DAC/amp combo field? Guess thats part of the excitement of the drop...We play guinea pig w a relatively affordable Grace product.
FreetsI think when getting down to the argument on implementation, the DACport Slim would never really be able to match the m9xx. The fact that the DACport Slim comes with limited bitrate support alone means that there is a difference in implementation. The m9xx is a much more involved product in my opinion. Also, yes, I feel you on the guinea pig part. But Grace Design did sort of stake their name on this product so how bad can it be? right?
