Anyone actually own one of these and care to comment? The actual user reviews (what little there are) around the net make this product sound like its got some issues that HiFiMan isnt working out. That and it really does seem like HiFiMan is just dumping crappy products on MassDrop and paying SlickDeals to promote them to clear them out?

ben_r_I actually own this thing!
Bought it black friday 2017 for ±100$ and have been using it since.
Playback is not gapless, which bothers me a lot. Battery dies if you don't turn the device off completely when not in use (there's no "sleep mode", just a "screen off" function). If you accidentally skip a track it doesn't remember where you left off, so for podcasts i have to fast forward for around 30 seconds to get back to the 20 minute mark.
Really, the only thing this has going for it is expandable storage, ridiculous max volume and simple playlist management (just throw in a folder and it's a playlist).
I like the sound, but am getting mad hiss on my (admittedly cheap) IEMs and Sennheiser HD25.
I really only use this as a podcast machine at this point. Using this player is simply not a very enjoyable experience.
Thanks for the reply! I had read about the hiss issue with this unit as well as a number of firmware issues too. Seems to me its something worth passing on. I just upgraded to a 256GB iPhone 8 so Im thinking Ill work with that for a bit.

ben_r_Stick to that iphone! I don't think it's worth trading all that convenience for a teeny tiny improvement in sound you only notice in side by side comparisons.
Though it's tiny, it manages to power even high ohm headsets with amazing accuracy. It works great with the drop usb-c to usb-c and my Phillips shp-9600. Soon enough I'll be using the Akoustyx...
I have an external amplifier with no integrated DAC and I only have an xduo xa10 as a dac/amp can I use the xduo xa10 as a dac only with an external amplifier?
So I bought the HD6xx a few weeks back and when I finally got the packages i got some Noir 99. ever happened to any of u guys and how did it get resolved
