gnikThe layers can sometimes be hard to see... But then again, online retailers have a habit of mixing these up all the time. Can you post a good picture of the blade face, and another of the writing in the blade? Maybe we can help you identify for sure what you have. (the good news is, the triple layer SK steel is the cheapest version, if you got anything but that then you got a better deal!) Also, it's not uncommon for hand made Japanese knives to arrive needing sharpening. Especially in this price range, but even in knives costing many times this amount.

I would highly suggest against buying this knife online, so many manufacturing issues. I own one which is bought in person and I really like it, it's a very crude knife but feels very 'hands on' and homely. Mine has a nice hinge, the edges of the handle aren't sharp, and the blade keeps its shape, though it is slightly asymmetrical. From what I can tell though, you are playing a scratch card lottery in terms of quality when buying online sadly... PS knife is dirty because I'm using it right now and my hands are dirty...

@kyleemj Pleeaaassse tell me someone screwed up and posted the newest batch of Higos under the wrong previous drop, and that these are NOT actually the SK steel version? These can be bought all over the place for $15 or less for the given model numbers

kyleemjThat's...better, but still not really a discount over average retail pricing. Getting harder and harder to find worthwhile deals here since the whole "image change" 😑 But thanks for fixing it all the same, at least it's not a 300% markup now lol

I bought a 60mm higo off ebay for $8 a couple months ago. You people are morons if you can't be bothered to look up a product before you just throw your money at it. If you're disappointed, you should be disappointed with yourself. The knife is fine.

RocketgiI know about the steels. I understand carbon rusts . The knife was still poorly made in other areas. You get what you pay for. Crude knife. No thanks.
RocketgiThese knives are hand forged by 1 dude who is in his 70s.... the being a little rough is part of the charm. Assuming these are legit they may be some of the last made because the guild that made them for so long is basically dead, only this one man left who is making the official version. I recently got one & I love it. Rough, sure, but it's still a lightweight & easy to carry knife that is plenty useful for daily task.

Advertised as being good to put in your breast pocket? Don't do it, the knife is so lose it just moves open freely, you will get bit when you put your hand in your pocket, or it will put a tear in your pocket depending how you put it in the pocket tip-up or down. I wouldn't trust it in any pocket.
