What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

It would take 1-2 hours to get everything right, check out the swillkb discussions on geekhack You would receive a custom built-plate in <10 days
Wait 4-5 days until the tool I linked gets improved, currently the stabiliser calculations might be wrong, the discussion on geekhack is very active
Edit: The Massdrop support is still silent about the address issues, they need to address these issues before re-triggering the drop
@whomever I do this deal with. Let's be clear on a few things:
1. I have no reason to trust you, and you have no reason to trust me. I'm in this because there is no other way I can see to get the case I want. Ultimately, that risk may lead to me having a useless collection of keys and circuitry. Additionally, the failure may be out of either of our control (e.g. lost in the mail), and, regardless, it's not Massdrop's responsibility to make that right. All that to say, I reserve the right to cry into my pillow and call people names even though it was just as much my fault for suggesting and then accepting this trade.
2. I'm not sending my personal information over this discussion board. We will have to find a more private medium to discuss the trade further.
3. I'm in this current drop. That means you will probably have to wait an additional month, at least, to get the case.
4. The technical stuff: I need to know which color of plastic case you want and the layout of your keyboard, so that the trade will be satisfactory to both of us (assuming that #1 doesn't bite either of us in the butt).
I think that is all I wanted to say. If there is anything else I'll post it. I'm, now, anxiously awaiting replies.
EDIT: The 1.5mm plate just broke when I tried to put a stabilizer in it....
I have 4 flat plates that I'm not going to use, 5 if I count the one I'm using right now, I wish there was a practical way to give one to you, but there isn't one, 90+ dollar is for one plate, from the infinity discussion at the keyboards section of the geekhack, you can find 5-6 interested parties and run a mini-group buy to reduce that cost to 20-30$'s - this is speculation, but it should be possible - make sure to use square cutouts so it's actually worth it - these hybrid cutouts are the worst :)
