I've had an identical-in-appearance Invicta model with the cheaper Japanese movement for a while - it's a nice-looking watch (I regularly get compliments on it), but it runs about 5-10 minutes fast per month, and the automatic mainspring won't store more than 26-30 hours of energy, so if you don't wear it regularly, it does run down.
dshea"Identical in appearance" when it comes to Invictia, can mean dozens and dozens of very differently constructed and specked watches. I'm convinced they do it on purpose--they are in the business of selling watches after all--but if you're comparing prices, the details matter. You won't find anyone around here touting the entire Invicta line, but there are a few stand out values in their catalog--if you know what to look for.
RayFThat makes sense - back in the mid 90's, when I worked in computer retailing, companies like Packard Bell were infamous for making a dozen part numbers for every conceivable configuration, with each tied to a single retailer. It deliberately broke price-matching, and there were enough tiny differences so that no two were exactly alike.
