The Kailh Box Speed Ultimate actuates at 1.2mm distance, and their seems to be a discrepancy in Drop's details, it is supposed to be 3.8mm total travel, at least that is the information presented in Chosfox's website.

Can these be mounted on a hotswap keyboard or are they only PCB solder?

You can mount them on either, so long as your PCB accepts five-pin switches.

Is it too sensitive? hair trigger activation is one of the least enjoyable experiences for me.
This one is probably not for you then. I use Kailh speed silvers right now, and hair trigger is probably an understatement. Because I usually type in bursts and don’t rest my hands on the keys, it’s great for me. You would probably want a speed tactile with a bump right at the top, so there’s at least some resistance to activation.

There is no reference for sound on these. Most of these switches are said to be low noise or silent. Without any real-world test for sound, I'll pass. Plus, as usual, you can get these cheaper elsewhere.
